We also had our Program Coordinator, Keyasia Meade, representing our Health Careers team out in the region at the Henderson County Health Science Career Cafe hosted at Innovative High School!

This was a great opportunity for students to learn more about our Pathway Programs and health career opportunities in a casual Q&A setting.

Last month, our Health Careers team had such a meaningful morning with Henderson County educators – from elementary to middle to high school CTE. Their dedication, creativity, and genuine care for their students is inspiring.

We loved sharing more about MAHEC’s Pathway Programming and giving a behind-the-scenes look at the Simulation Center. Moments like these remind us how much possibility lives in our classrooms and how powerful it is when educators and community partners work together to open doors for students.

We’re grateful for their commitment and excited for what we’ll build together for the next generation of health care professionals!

MAHEC’s Simulation Center hit the road last month at West Henderson High School for a hands-on healthcare learning experience with the Falcons.

Students rotated through real clinical scenarios, practiced decision-making and explored future healthcare pathways – all right in their own school!

Our Passport Program students spent an unforgettable day at Appalachian State University, and we’re all still smiling about it! From hands-on activities inside the Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences to a full walking tour of main campus, the day was fille with curiosity, connection, and those “this could be my future” moments we live for.

One of the biggest highlights? Watching students step into real health-care scenarios, ask thoughtful questions and picture themselves in careers that serve our communities. Exposure days like this help our students see what’s possible and remind us why this work matters.

Thank you, Appalachian State for welcoming our students with heart, expertise, and genuine hospitality!

Over 200 middle and high school students from across Western North Carolina joined us at Harrah's Cherokee Center Asheville for MAHEC's 25th Annual Health Careers Education & Awareness Conference!

From tourniquet training to moulage artistry, students got hands-on with real-world healthcare skills while meeting professionals who inspire the next generation of providers. As MAHEC CEO Dr. William Hathaway reminded us, by 2036 our nation could face an 86,000 physician shortage, and it's our mission to prepare young people now to fill that gap, right here in the mountains.

This year's theme, Roots to Resilience, celebrates the strength of our region and the power of investing in tomorrow's healthcare workforce.
