As spring arrives and activity begins to pick up again, the body can sometimes respond with stiffness or tension.

This season is connected to the tendons and connective tissues, which benefit from circulation and gentle support.

Massage helps keep muscles and fascia supple, allowing the body to move more comfortably as the season shifts.

Spring is associated with wind in Chinese medicine.

Wind represents sudden change and movement in the body.

When the body is vulnerable, wind can contribute to symptoms like seasonal allergies, sinus congestion, or skin irritation.

Acupuncture and herbs can help strengthen the body’s defenses and support the immune system during this transitional time.

Wood represents growth, direction, and the ability to move forward.

Just as plants push up through the soil in early spring, this season carries a natural momentum toward change and expansion.

In Chinese medicine, supporting the Wood element helps cultivate clarity, adaptability, and the capacity to move through challenges with greater ease.

What should you be eating this season?

Leafy greens, sprouts, herbs, and young vegetables help support the Liver’s natural detoxification processes and encourage healthy digestion after the heavier foods of winter.

Think: bitter greens, fresh herbs, lightly steamed vegetables, lemon and citrus, and warm broths with spring greens

Small seasonal shifts in diet can help the body transition more comfortably into spring.

As the flowers bloom and green begins to take over, we all want to feel light and joyful.

But oftentimes, the Liver, which governs our emotional flow, shows up this time of year with feelings like frustration, anger, and restlessness.

When energy that has been quiet all winter suddenly begins to move again, emotions can surface along with it.

If you're feeling this, know that this is a normal transition - if you would like support, come see us at Alchemy 🤍

As winter loosens its grip, the body begins to wake up again 🌱

In Chinese medicine, spring is connected to the Liver, the organ responsible for the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body. When that flow is supported, we tend to feel more energized, creative, and emotionally balanced.

When it’s stuck, you may notice irritability, tension, headaches, digestive changes, or that feeling of being “on edge.”

Acupuncture treatments during this time of year focus on encouraging movement and easing stagnation, helping the body transition out of winter’s stillness and into the momentum of a new season.

If your body is feeling a little stuck, we’re here to support you.

Preparation begins before the season arrives 🌱

The transition into spring is shaped by how well we care for the body in late winter. Supporting digestion helps build steady energy, healthy circulation encourages smooth movement, and emotional flexibility allows Qi to flow without becoming stuck.

Gentle warmth, regular meals, and a slower pace all support digestion. When these systems are tended to now, the body can move into spring with less tension and stagnation 🌸

We love spotlighting Chinese medicinal herbs, and ginseng is one of the most well-known roots in Chinese medicine for a reason.

Rather than stimulating or pushing the body, ginseng is traditionally used to support vitality and resilience over time. We often turn to ginseng during periods of depletion or fatigue; moments when the body is asking for care, nourishment, and restoration.

Welcome to the Year of the Horse 🐎

Things want to move. Ideas, plans, emotions, and energy may feel more activated than they did during the deeply inward months before. But forward motion doesn’t automatically mean balance.

The Horse is associated with movement and vitality. In Chinese medicine, this energy is closely related to the Heart system, which governs circulation, emotional expression, connection, and our capacity to experience joy.

Healthy movement depends on regulation. When the nervous system is supported and Qi flows smoothly, momentum feels light and purposeful. When the system is overstimulated or depleted, that same energy can feel rushed, scattered, or exhausting.

Acupuncture helps the body regulate and release what’s been held. Massage brings warmth, circulation, and ease. Together, they create the conditions for movement to arise naturally.

At Alchemy, we’re here to support you.

Happy New Year from all of us at Alchemy! 🧧

This is one of our favorite moments in the year. In many ways, Lunar New Year marks the true beginning; a reset that arrives after we’ve had time to rest, reflect, and settle. If January’s start didn’t unfold the way you hoped, this is your invitation to begin again.

In Chinese medicine, Lunar New Year represents a turning point in the seasonal cycle. The deepest stillness of winter has passed, and Yang energy is just beginning to stir beneath the surface. It’s not yet time to rush forward, but it is time to clear space and orient toward what’s next.

Rather than big resolutions, this season favors subtle shifts, alignment, and choices that feel sustainable in the body.

More on what this Year of the Horse holds to come… 🐎
