Cold causes contraction, both in nature and in the body.

Over time, that contraction can show up as tight muscles, joint stiffness, low energy, or emotional heaviness. As winter slowly begins to soften, this is the time to support circulation and movement.

Acupuncture and massage help “defrost” stagnation, encouraging warmth, flow, and ease as the body transitions toward spring 🩵

Healing doesn’t happen when the body is in constant survival mode.

Acupuncture works by helping regulate the nervous system, shifting the body out of fight-or-flight and into a state where repair and restoration are possible. When the system feels safe, circulation improves, tension releases, sleep deepens, and the body can do what it already knows how to do.

Regulation comes first, and restoration follows.

Come see us at Alchemy and to regulate, restore, and feel like your calmest self 🙂‍↕️

February is such a special month. We’re exiting the previous year, entering a new lunar year, and beginning to notice the subtlest shifts toward spring. Minute by minute, the days are growing longer, and we’re being steadily brought into new energy.

In Chinese medicine, this season is associated with rest, conservation, and protecting your reserves. If you’re feeling slower, quieter, or more inward right now, that’s not something to fix... it’s something to honor.

Winter asks us to listen closely, nourish deeply, and avoid unnecessary depletion. February is about softly preparing the body and nervous system for the movement that spring will bring 🌱

So we’re hearing that hot water is trending, and all we can say is: it’s about time 🤍

One of the easiest switches you can make for your health is ditching ice water, especially in the colder months. In Chinese medicine, digestion relies on warmth. The Spleen and Stomach function best when they’re supported, not shocked by cold.

Cold beverages can slow digestive fire, leading to bloating, sluggish digestion, and fatigue. Warm or hot water, on the other hand, supports circulation, helps nutrients absorb more efficiently, and encourages Qi to move smoothly through the body.

This doesn’t have to be complicated. A mug of warm water in the morning, sipping something warm throughout the day. You'll feel the difference ❤️‍🔥

We are nearing a new Lunar New Year, but we still have our final weeks of the Year of the Snake 🐍

The Snake represents transformation, shedding, and deep internal change. This year may not have been marked by dramatic external shifts, but rather by subtle realizations, releases, or changes in how you move through the world.

Before we turn toward what’s next, take some time to pause and reflect.

Ask yourself:

What have I outgrown this year?
Where did I shed something (a habit, belief, or pattern) that no longer fit?
What lessons surfaced slowly?

Endings should be honored just as much as beginnings. Taking time to acknowledge what’s closing creates space for what’s ready to emerge 🐎

Cold has a contracting quality ❄️

Cold can slow circulation and create stagnation, especially in areas where there has been previous injury or tension. This is why aches, stiffness, or old pain patterns often resurface in winter.

Supporting circulation is key right now. Acupuncture and massage help encourage flow, bring warmth to areas of stagnation, and prevent the body from tightening and holding without forcing movement.

When the body is warmed from the inside out, you can feel the difference 😌

Rest is maintenance care 💆‍♀️

Doing less isn’t falling behind, it’s how the body restores balance and preserves long-term health. Slowing down now helps prevent depletion later.

Practices like acupuncture and massage support the nervous system, improve circulation, and help the body shift out of constant “doing” mode. Rest isn’t something to earn after everything else is finished, it’s an essential part of healing.

Care for yourself the way nature does this season: quietly and intentionally.

Warmth is one of the most powerful forms of medicine ❤️‍🔥

Soups, broths, slow-cooked foods, warm beverages... these don’t just comfort the body, they support digestion, circulation, and immune function in colder months.

In Chinese Medicine, warmth helps Qi move smoothly and protects against stagnation and pain.

Eat, drink, and live in a way that keeps your system supported from within.

This time of year isn’t a time for emotional breakthroughs.

Emotional fluctuations in winter are often linked to physical depletion from poor sleep, cold exposure, irregular meals, or overstimulation. Before interpreting emotions, the focus is on restoring basic supports.

Consistency, warmth, and rest do more for emotional balance now than reflection ever could. A warm cup of tea, supportive care, and time to slow down can go a long way toward nourishing both body and mind.

The start of the year often brings a wave of resolutions, and many of them focus on health or weight loss. But winter is a time to nourish, not strip down.

Aggressive detoxing during winter can weaken digestion and drain vital energy. Cold, raw, and restrictive approaches ask the body to do more work at a time when it’s meant to conserve.

Instead, this season calls for warmth, grounding foods, and gentle support. Think rebuilding, replenishing, and restoring rather than cleansing away.

There will be time for detox... this isn’t it.

Ritual: small, repeated practices that help regulate the nervous system and anchor the body in rhythm, especially in winter.

A warm drink, a quiet moment, a consistent evening routine… these simple acts signal safety and support to the body.

Ritual creates steadiness when everything else feels in motion.
And right now, steadiness is medicine 🫖

January asks us to slow down, not to start over ꩜

Despite January marking the beginning of a new year, in Chinese Medicine this is not a season for new beginnings. Winter is the most yin time of the year... a period for rest, storage, and conserving energy. This is when the body rebuilds its reserves, settles the nervous system, and protects its deepest vitality.

If you’re feeling less motivated, more introspective, or simply tired, that’s not something to push past or fight against. It’s your body staying in tune with the season.

Next month, we’ll lean into the shift that comes with the Lunar New Year. But for now, take time to pause 🤍
