Hello from Asheville, NC ~
As many of you know, WNC has been severely devistated by Hurricane Helene. Most of my clientele is based here so no need to delve on this topic.
This is an update about my massage practice: after a year with Shoji spa I've decided to end my practice there. Right before the storm, I was hired at Urban Exhale and only there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is painfully slow right now as tourism is obsolete.
As of now I am working 80% for myself. Private practice massages, either in my private studio or house call sessions, will keep me in business and my family supported.
I have been offering sliding scale at my studio already and now, with all we have gone through in Asheville, I'm offering donation-based services. Typically, these found out to $1/min, give or take. But, please know, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
This work is extremely important to me and so grounding for myself. I’d rather work full-time serving my community for half my usual rate than make top dollar working with tourists.
I've been attempting this switch for a long time and the aftermath of Helene has really pushed me towards that vision even more.
