With support from a NOW Grant, CareNet is partnering with Macon County Schools and Macon County Programs for Progress to ensure students across rural Macon County have reliable access to weekend meals throughout the fall semester. Together, they’re helping local children return to school on Monday ready to learn, grow, and thrive.

WNC Bridge Foundation recently received $100,000 from Dogwood Health Trust to help Western North Carolina families access food during the government shutdown and related disruptions to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.

These funds, along with an additional $60,000 contributed by WNC Bridge Foundation, have already been disbursed to local nonprofits and organizations providing direct food assistance to families across the region.

We’re grateful to our partners working tirelessly to keep our neighbors fed and cared for.

🚨Funding Alert (External):
NCCF Disaster Relief Fund

The North Carolina Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund will accept applications from organizations supporting long-term recovery in western NC communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Grants will range from $25,000–$100,000.
Applications opened October 17 and are due by noon on November 18.

Yancey County Friends-Mark your calendars and come out for support, supplies, and community!

Over a dozen organizations will be on site with helpful info and resources for anyone affected by disaster. All are welcome, and Spanish interpreters will be available.

🎈Join us at one of four Disaster Recovery Resource Fairs in Yancey County on August 7, 21, 28, and September 11!

✅ FREE meals from local food trucks
✅ FREE school supplies
✅ FREE disaster kits (flashlights, batteries, radios, etc.)
✅ FREE food boxes to take home

There will be more than a dozen organizations to provide information and services related to disaster recovery. All are welcome and interpreters will be available to assist Spanish-speakers.

Our hearts are with Texas.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has opened the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund to support relief and rebuilding efforts after the flood of July 4, 2025. The Community Foundation - a 501(c)(3) public charity serving the Texas Hill Country - will direct funds to vetted organizations providing rescue, relief, and recovery efforts as well as flood assistance. The Fund will support the communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort. All donations are tax-deductible.
