How to use sliders for the upper body & lower body

Upper - addressing unilateral control with one arm stationary and the other moving (can do a push-up to make harder but I wasn’t feeling that today)

Lower - addressing bilateral control with both legs moving (stance leg is working a bit harder and I’m a bit wobbly from having just hit heavy knee extensions 😅)

Socks on hardwood or a paper plate on carpet

3-5 rounds 8-12 reps (3 pts of the star = 1 rep)

athlete spotlight - HAWK 🔥

A small glimpse into one of their PT sessions with today’s focus on stabilization and strength. As a roller derby athlete their body is asked to handle a lot of forces so we took it down a notch today and fine tuned slow controlled motions

Hawk is an amazing, badass derby athlete (with the best quads) putting in the work to not only perform better but to feel better. Prior to these exercises we incorporated soft tissue work, dry needling, and joint mobilizations to prime their nervous system to perform the movement demands

Trying to be better about eating during the day and making sure protein is involved. I don’t love food. I eat because I have to to live. I am trying to fuel my body better for how I expect it to perform in the gym. Coffee is life but doesn’t build muscles 🤪

For previous patients, new patients, on the fence I don’t know if I need Physical Therapy patients, I ignore all my symptoms and power through patients, I’m scared to return to heavy lifting after an injury patients, I don’t know where to start patients, I keep hurting myself patients, I want to be healthier patients……you get the point!! I hope 😉

Physical therapy is for everyone not just when you are in pain!!! Get ahead of the game and save BIG (in more ways than one)

PTs get body work done and do corrective exercises too!!! I will admit I am just as guilty as the next person for having an issue and ignoring but I’m learning my body needs more self love and care than I like to admit.

Today the amazing owner of Peak Performance Bodywork and Massage and y’all by shoulder and neck feel amazing!!!

I tweaked it a few weeks ago and then fell going up the stairs carrying Wallace (🙄🤪) and really jacked it up. She didn’t play around and the pictures are proof!

And like I educate all of you, I followed up with corrective motions to support the new range of motion I gained and want to keep. I plan to implement these motions into my workouts 2-3x/week.

Oh and I scheduled a follow up massage 😉 miracles don’t happen in one session (hint hint)
