But in many cases, tension is the body’s way of keeping you functional when the overwhelm felt too big to process.

✨ At some point, your system learned that tightening was safer than feeling.
✨Safer than collapsing.
✨ Safer than letting emotions or memories surface without support.
So instead, the body held.

It contained what couldn’t be metabolized at the time.
This is why forcing relaxation rarely works.

We do a lot of mental work at the end of the year.
We reflect, set intentions, close cycles.

But December is also full of stimulation.
Social events, deadlines, noise, disrupted routines, emotional processing, less sleep.
So we enter January with a body and nervous system that have been pulled out of rhythm.

The mind knows we’re “resetting.”
The body doesn’t.
Your nervous system doesn’t respond to dates or intentions.
It responds to cues of safety.

If you want your body to actually feel new, start by restoring predictability:
✨ Go back to regular sleep and wake times
✨ Reduce stimulation before bed
✨ Eat warm, grounding meals
✨ Spend time in quiet or nature
✨ Slow transitions instead of rushing into productivity

Safety comes before motivation.
Regulation comes before renewal.

When the body feels safe again, clarity, energy, and direction return naturally.
