Our Dining Team has a new helper in the kitchen — a dough rounder! After our chefs roll out the dough, this machine takes over, shaping it into perfectly uniform rounds that are ready to bake. That means more of our breads, bagels, buns, and rolls can be made homemade right here at Givens Estates!

A special thank-you to Doug Cooper, our Pastry and Events Chef, for showcasing the new equipment in action.

Here’s to more warm, homemade goodness coming out of our kitchen!

Autumn is in full swing at Givens Estates, and the falling leaves are being put to good use! Rather than hauling them away, our Grounds team composts the leaves collected across campus. This natural process enriches the soil, supports healthy landscaping, and helps us care for our environment in a sustainable way. Every season brings new opportunities to grow greener together!

We’re proud of our Givens Estates resident potters who represented our community at MANNA FoodBank's 23rd Annual Empty Bowls event.

This year’s gathering celebrated resilience in the wake of Hurricane Helene and honored the WNC artists and culinary partners who make this event possible year after year. Attendees enjoyed handcrafted bowls, local art, and plenty of community spirit — all in support of MANNA’s important work fighting hunger across Western North Carolina.

We’re so grateful to our resident artists for sharing their talent and compassion with the wider community!

Givens Estates held a heartfelt Veterans Day Ceremony at the Williams Center, honoring residents who have served our country. A Missing Veterans Table was also on display in the Oxford Commons lobby, providing a space for reflection and remembrance.

Students from Rugby Middle School joined the ceremony to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Several local groups contributed handmade cards to honor the veterans, including Scouting America local Boy Scout Troops, Upward Elementary School, First Congregational Church UCC Hendersonville Connection, and The Weekday School of First United Methodist Church Hendersonville.

Rich Enkeboll, a 30-year Navy veteran and former commanding officer of the USS Batfish, shared stories and insights from his remarkable career, highlighting the dedication, courage, and leadership required in his decades of service. Givens Estates is grateful to all who have served and proud to honor their commitment and bravery.

November is Native American Heritage Month; a time to honor history, celebrate culture, and recognize resilience.

This month, we reflect on the rich traditions, enduring contributions, and powerful stories of Native American communities across the country.

It’s a time to acknowledge the past, celebrate the present, and support a future rooted in respect, education, and inclusion.

Let’s use this month to learn, listen, and uplift Indigenous voices; not just in November, but all year long.
