‘We brush away the comets and rise to heaven.' Oracle bone, jiǎgǔ 甲骨, are pieces of ox scapula or turtle plastron which were used for divination in ancient China, mainly during the late Shang dynasty. Queries were carved onto the bone or shell in oracle bone script using a sharp tool.

Here, imagery of Wu. The Chinese character depicting the ‘Wu’ is of female shamans that dance to make rain. As mystics, healers, and travelers to the netherworld, Wu are divine messengers who act as mediums for local spirits, cure diseases through prayer, and travel to the realm of the deceased. They are sometimes referred to as ‘sky-goers’, ‘reincarnates’, or ‘ones who return from the beyond’. Magic, spirituality, animism, superstition, and medicine all sprang together from the primordial.

In the time that medicine developed from these ancient ‘Wu’, it is said that, ‘the ancients could be sung back to health, while moderns drink powerful herbs and have acupuncture, and are still hard to get better.’

Welcome Qi Node Qiufen 秋分 Autumn Equinox

With the arrival of this, the Qi node of the midpoint of autumn in the Chinese calendar, Yin Qi is now established. The autumnal equinox is one of the four transitions that rectifies ithe course of the annual cycling of Qi. Yin and Yang are now equal, day and night are equal, and Yin is about to take charge. Storehouses are filling up and the work of harvest is nearly complete. Hibernating insects reinforce their shelters. The atmosphere rings with a pleasant stillness. During this node, Qi is best at 6:00pm. Practice Qigong indoors morning and evening in short sessions. Eat foods of Jing-Qi concentration; breakfast should be hearty and can be eaten a little later than in spring and summer seasons. It is beneficial to finish evening meals before 7:00pm and enjoy them in a quiet and undistracted setting, without being social or mentally engaged at every meal.

During this period the environment grows ever-more Yin, characterized by a coolness, dry air and wind. This is the phase of the metal element in cosmology at large, and with relevance to Chinese medicine, the Lung and Large Intestine are the Yin-Yang paired organ systems that are most sensitive to seasonal excesses of dryness and the contractile tendencies of fall. Maintaining suppleness with acupuncture and Chinese medicine is recommended.

Sending well-wishes for well-being & auspicious conditions to Everyone ☯︎︎

☯ THE HEART & ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE SENSE ORGANS

According to the SU WEN 素問 --the first text known to address basic questions, theoretical foundations and diagnostic methods in traditional oriental medicine-- The five sense organs, referring to the eyes, ears, nose, mouth and tongue, are each paired with specific visceral organs. In particular The HEART, known as 'the emperor', gives residence to SHEN - a level of 'spirit' which activates all mental activities, as well as perceiving the emotional stimulai of all of the organs, and has relationships with the other orifices beyond its own link with the tip of the tongue. The heart is the only organ with the insight to do that.

Eyes and sight are related to liver, but also related to heart. The heart supplies blood & blood vessels supply the eyes. According to the Su Wen, excessive use of the eyes injures the heart. Eyes, in diagnosis, are the most important window of SHEN [spirit that is stored inherently in the heart], and although the eyes are particularly the orfice of the liver, sight is a manifestation of the function of heart.

ARTHRITIS PAIN ☯ Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid, infectious, chemically-induced, temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and gout are all types of arthritic pain that can be successfully managed, and in many cases, set right using TCM.

When QI & blood aren't freely flowing, they stagnate, causing pain, heat, and other symptoms of imbalance. Acupuncture, herbal therapy & diet can open blockage in meridians and balance and build QI flow, returning harmony. Please Enjoy & Share
