Guess who is back in business. (Officially after the holidays.) I am working out the kinks, hoping to stay neighborly, small practice, but big impact.

Returning home.

Last night I made space, lit tiny fires, burned incense, went outside, unrolled my mat and for the first time in far far too long had a practice that went deep.

It reminded the smallest parts of me what oxygen and mindfulness, intention and love feel like. It awakened a piece of me that has been so neglected. My hope is she will stay awake, eyes, mind and heart wide open. Returning home to her practice, peace, presence, strength and flexibility.

The time has come and gone and all I have is now. So, onward and upward. Inward and outward. Forward. I go. Handing myself the tools I need for whatever comes next.

Here’s to everyone beginning again.

This is a thank you. This is a deep inhale and a long, slow exhale. This is a reset button. This is intention setting. And, this is, of course, just an Instagram post.

It is a thank you to all of you who have supported me and my little family in the past couple months. You, family, you framily, you new and old friends, students and clients, thank you for your warmth and support. This chapter of my and our journey is far from over, but we are trucking along with your help. Thank you! Thomasville, we love you and will see you soon. You look so pretty all dressed up for Christmas.

Asheville, it is so very good to see you. I hate we missed some big moments like your leaves painting themselves for autumn, your temperatures lowering via some of my favorite degrees. But, we are here. We are ready to witness what comes next.

My hope is that we can settle back into some version of normalcy. I’ll be creating a virtual yoga class schedule, please keep in touch about your needs and wants and am considering picking up a class or two as well. I am also available for massage!! Nathan, .photography is here and ready to help your visions come to life, your marketing photos be their best yet and your family, engagement, wedding and holiday portraits and memories be captured and stored for sharing now and to help illustrate stories later.
Our girl Olive is ready to see the mountains, her friends and all our framily nearby. She has grown in so many ways since early September!

In order if photo:
1: Sunday hosts my last 2 yoga classes while in town. The 1st will be a 90 min class 2-3:30. We will have a short practice and then a yoga nidra session (see point 2.)
The 2nd will be a practice as usual to get our blood oxygenated and flowing in order to set us up not only for a wonderfully affective savasana but to set the stage for a wonderful week.
2. Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is a fascinating guided deep relaxation. It takes us to a place somewhere between un and conscious, between sleep and wakefulness. If practiced well 45 minutes can be equivalent to 3 hrs of sleep. It can be challenging to stay tuned in and allow stillness for some, for others the challenge is staying at least a little bit awake. I’m excited to offer this gift to you.
3. I want to say thank you. Thank you, for trusting me to be a part of your journey. If you’ve come to see me on the mat or on the table, it has been a true honor. I look forward to making some “guest appearances” in the near future.

2-3:30 a practice in letting go, movement and stillness, flow and holding, yin and yang.
3:45-4:45 gentle yoga flow. Just enough to get your blood oxygenated and your self ready for a really affective sweet savasana.

Sometimes it doesn’t look, feel, work, fit, move, show up the way we expect. When it comes to ourselves, our minds and our bodies we seek balance. The letting go of the expectation of “perfection”. In that we accept our utterly perfect imperfections, our unique shapes, thoughts, movements, colors, abilities and all the other wonders that make each of us so amazingly individualized.
And, this is a tall order for most of us most of the time.
So, we practice. We practice. We show up to the practice of letting go of those expectations, letting go of the belief that we know what our experience of this, that and/or the other is supposed to be like. We let go of our need to control.
AND when we practice this in small ways, in mantra, in asana, in front of the mirror, on social media, in the day to day all, we not only expose that we too are just human but it begins to overflow into the big picture, into the large scheme, this simplifying our days and nights, bringing ease and compassion not only to ourselves but others. It allows access to a deep residence in equanimity.
And, this we come back to again and again, only through all the little ways we practice over and over. Practice makes progress.

In this world one thing we know we can count on is change. One thing yoga helps us with is how we handle the things life presents, like change.
A change has happened, hopefully to better suit Thomasville while I’m around.

The Ground Up Series has been canceled. In lieu of it, I will be teaching 90 minute themed classes at Fit Fab Life every Sunday from 2-3:30.

The first of which will be concentrating on the pesky tension we as a society tend to carry in our neck and shoulders. Not only will we have a juicy practice that will aim to send you home feeling less like frozen butter and more like counter better, but I’ll share some super accessible ways for you to prevent that tension and also to alleviate it.
