We are a family owned and operated funeral home serving Boyd and Greenup county since 2002 and offer funeral services and memorial services for all faiths. GENERAL PRICE LIST
Effective Date: September 1, 2024
The goods and services listed below are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire, however, all arrangements will include a charge for our basic service and overhead. If legal or other requirements compel the purchase of an item or service it will be detailed in writing on the Statement of Goods and Services.

• PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PACKAGES
A. Traditional Service - 2 hour one evening visitation, funeral services
at the funeral home, chapel, church, or other facility. Services
of funeral director and staff, embalming, other preparation,
committal service, acknowledgment cards, register, and memorials. $ 5750.00

B. One Day Service - 2 hour visitation, same day as services at gravesite
or cemetery chapel. Services of funeral director and staff,
embalming, other preparation, and service memorials. $ 5240.00

C. Contemporary Service - 2 hour one evening visitation, funeral service
at graveside or cemetery chapel. Register book and memorials. $ 5040.00

D. Economical Services - Graveside or cemetery chapel service with no
visitation. (Embalming, other preparation included). $ 4690.00

• SELECTED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Services of Funeral Director and Staff $ 3250.00
Our charge includes necessary arrangements, counseling, recording vital statistics,
securing and filing necessary documents and permits, notices and coordinating
service plans. This fee will be added to the total cost of itemized arrangements
but is included in the professional service packages above. Embalming $ 1750.00
Except in certain cases embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be
necessary in the selection of certain funeral arrangements. You have the right
to select a service that excludes embalming. Embalming is required by this firm
to provide an open casket visitation. Other Preparation of Deceased $ 680.00

Henry Clay Franklin of Summit, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 6th, at Community Hospice Care Center, with his wife Mildred by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Stella Franklin. His brothers; John, Milton, Paul, and Robert. Sisters; Marie, Ruei, Emma, Betty, and also his precious granddaughter; Bekah Stevens. Henry was a Korean War US Army veteran and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed helping with the building of the sanctuary. He retired from Armco Steel Corporation and went on to work 2 years in India and a year in Thailand. Henry was also known for the garden he grew each year. He and Mildred enjoyed canning and freezing. He loved working in his yard, making it more beautiful. He also became close to his son in law, Perry, helping with his care. Surviving, in addition to his wife, include 3 children; Marty Franklin, and wife Angela, of Ashland. Myra Stevens of Ashland. Leshia Routzon, and husband Mike, of Cincinnati. 4 grandchildren; Drew Stevens (Pride), Bethany Schmidberger (Matt), Breanna Cline (Whitney), Matthew Rowe (Erin), and seven great grandchildren; Landon Schmidberger. Leo Schmidberger, Lucy Schmidberger, Lane Schmidberger, Hannah Stevens, Olivia Stevens, and Cooper Rowe. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 9th at 3:00 PM at Rose Hill Baptist Church by Pastor Matt Shamblin. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 1:00 PM until service time. Willis K Boyd, 76 of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Willis was born in Dana, Floyd County, Kentucky a son of the late Kessie and Lizzie Kidd Boyd. After graduating from Boyd County High School in 1967, he dedicated 35 years to Armco/AK Steel. Starting in the shipping department and ending his career in the BO/Caster maintenance department, stopping only to serve his Country during Vietnam in the United Staes Navy - in the 5th deployment of the USS Constellation. Willis also served in the KY Army National Guard and the Naval Reserves. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist church. Willis enjoyed being surrounded by his family, golfing, UK basketball, NASCAR, sharing his Reese’s cups with his grandkids, Little Debbie’s and sitting on his porch. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a brother Kellis Dean, sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Ray Sammons, and one son in law Robert Swim. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years Rebecca Ann Brown Boyd. His children William Eric Boyd (Carol) of Ashland, Johanna Lynn Swim (Heidi Perdue) of Ashland and James David Boyd (Randie) of Georgia. Grandchildren Jessica Kay Caudill (Charlie), Shelby Johnson (Carter), Lauren Daniels (Tyler), Robert Alexander Swim, Claudia Boyd (Cameron), Abigail Boyd, Isabella Boyd, Harper Boyd, Greyson Boyd. Great grandchildren, Andrew (Delaynee), Molly, Peyton, Jacob, Hunter, Rebecca Jo, Quest and Atlas, and great-great grandchildren Carson, and Jackson. A host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Willis was a man whose life was defined by his giving nature, his warmth, strength and friendly demeanor. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life that was truly lived and a soul that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services are Wednesday, November 5th at 11:00 AM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation is Tuesday evening, November 4th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

Janice McKee, 86, Summit, Kentucky, formerly of Westwood, died Monday morning, October 27th at Kings Daughters Medical Center. Janice was born June 8, 1939 in Morehead, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Taylor Hamilton and Lena Hamm Boyd (and stepfather Roy). She was a member of the Grace Nazarene Church and was the owner of K's Market in Westwood, McKee's Market, and New Nickle Market, that she operated for over 30 years. Janice was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and step father, by her husband of 63 years, Robert F. McKee. A son; Lannie Gene McKee, and 2 brothers; Larry and Allen Hamilton. Surviving include a son; Robert McKee (Pam) of Ashland, Kentucky. A daughter; Sandra McKee of Summit, Kentucky. 3 brothers; Carter Hamilton (Theresa) of Dayton, Ohio. Randy Hamilton of Morehead, Kentucky. Tom Hamilton of Dayton, Ohio. 2 granddaughters; Nikki and Kristen. 2 great grandsons; Caleb and Jacob, and 2 great great grandchildren; Aurora and Mason. Sara was born November 10, 1932 in Boyd County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William Clayton and Jeanette Johnson Fleming. She was a loving mother of Susan Crabtree, and husband Thomas, of Summit, Kentucky. Grandmother of Lori Doran, and husband Mike. Karen Childers, and husband Allen. Great grandmother of Tristan McDavid, and wife Ashley, and Elizabeth Doran. She was a sister to Patricia Coburn of Ohio, Evelyn Blanton of Ashland, Kentucky, and Debra Adkins of Ashland, Kentucky. Sara was a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church where she and her late husband attended for many years and enjoyed the fellowship with their church family. She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents by 4 sisters; Juanita Cremeans, Mary Franklin, Janice Gifford, and Nancy Porter. Wallace ‘Wally’ Stanley, 73, of Ashland, KY, husband of Cindy Hall Stanley, died peacefully Wednesday, October 8th, at home, surrounded by family. Wallace was born December 30th, 1951, in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Rupert and Faye Fannin Stanley. He was a man of many talents, working in all areas of construction and operating, being called the Backhoe Man when he first started out. He was a coal truck driver, a machine builder, a car salesman at his own ‘Wheels and Deals Auto Sales’, along with his businesses, ‘Stanley’s Tool Outlet’, and ‘Wally’s Billiards’; his favorite being the billiards. He loved playing pool with his customers. However, his most important job was shown as the kind, protecting, providing, loving, leading, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather he was. He always took care of business in all aspects of life.
His favorite things to do in life were running equipment, bush hogging, watching his kids and grandkids play sports, and spending time with family. He truly was one of a kind, so full of wit, kindness, and love that he shared with everyone he cared about.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents by a brother, Randy Stanley and brothers-in-law, Steve Bates and Leonard Hall, and in-laws Bob and Maude Griffith Hall. Surviving, including his wife Cindy are three sons; Darrell Stanley (Michelle), Aaron Stanley (Tawnya), and Ryan Stanley, all of Ashland, KY; seven grandchildren Isaac Stanley, Keyleigh Stanley, Talon Stanley, Laynee Stanley, Max Stanley, Mason Stanley, Dustin Stevens (Tessa), and two great grandchildren, Ayalla and Asher Stevens; three sisters Fredia Stanley, Pat Clark (Steve), and Linda Bates (Jimbo); sisters-in-law Jerry Stanley and Rita Hall, Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews, family and friends. And one special uncle that was more like his brother and his best friend, Denny Stanley.
A service will be held Saturday, October 18th at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the service, officiated by Brother Steve Fraley, at 2:00 p.m.

Chip was born June 4, 1956 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Ballard O. and Mary Fannin Stewart. He was a former electrician with IBEW and attended Maranatha Bible Church. Chip was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son; Josh Stewart in 2023. Verna Lee Caudill Menshouse, age 99, renown gospel pianist and teacher of Westwood, Kentucky, most recently of Kings Daughter's and Son's Assisted Living, Ashland, Kentucky, passed peacefully at Community Hospice Care Center on October 2, 2025. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Russell, Kentucky, to Lakie Marie Hutchinson Caudill, and Charles Caudill who preceded her in death. She started her musical career at age 16 as church pianist and continued playing for several different congregations until she retired after 80 years in the service of the Lord. She had over 400 piano students and never charged more than $4.00, or whatever the family could afford, to further sacred music. Her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of pot roast and apple pies. Her daughters and many of their friends were well fed at her table. Her nieces commented that " It smells like Aunt Verna's house", whenever they smelled chicken or bacon frying. Her husband and true love of 58 years, Walter Franklin Menshouse, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Lynn Menshouse (Paul Kram), Deena Lee Menshouse Fairchild (Edward), Waletta Kyle Menshouse, five grandchildren, Clinton Edward Fairchild, Jessica Lee Fairchild Skeens (Rick), Franklin Alexander Fairchild, Kara Elizabeth Riffe, Jennifer Kaitlin Riffe and her treasured great grandsons, Walter Grayson Music, McKinley Matthew Music, Nolan Wolf Johnson, Edward Grey Fairchild, William Preston Riffe-Styer and Gideon Thomas Lee Skeens. She is also survived by her devoted sister Rena Kay Phillips of Russell, Kentucky and brother Randal Keith Caudill (Donna) of Simpsonville, South Carolina. And two caring sisters-in-law, Charlotte Sue Vanhoose and Betty Lou Menshouse and numerous nieces and nephews. Her daughters are forever grateful for everyone's kindness and care at Kings Daughter's and Son's Assisted Care and Community Hospice Care Center and friends who showed such an abundance of loving care, especially Betty Menshouse. On Sunday, October 5th, family and friends are invited to visitation from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM by Rev. Edward Fairchild, Jr. Graveside rites and interment will be in Dixon Cemetery, Westwood.

Darlene was born July 17, 1939 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Brady and Nerva Leadingham Lowe. She was a former sales clerk with G.C. Murphy’s, Value City of Russell, and retired from Wal-Mart of Ashland, KY. Darlene and Raymond always enjoyed listening to gospel music and followed the Southernaires Gospel Group quite a bit. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband by her precious son; Mitchell Riddle in 1969. She was also preceded by 2 sisters; Charlotte Chaffins and Sue Moore, and a brother; Tony Wayne Lowe. Surviving include a brother; Garrett Lowe, and wife Sherry, of Grayson, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, October 3rd at 1:00 PM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME by Pastor Jim Webster. Burial will be in the Fannin Cemetery. Ben McKenzie, 79, of Ashland, husband of Amarylis Gillum McKenzie, died Friday evening, September 26th at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Ben was born January 21, 1946 in Paintsville, Kentucky, a son of the late Hershell and Anna Lee Blanton McKenzie. He was a former employee of ARMCO Steel Corporation and Bellefonte Hospital. Ben was a proud decorated Viet Nam Army veteran having served in the 11th Armored Calvary and receiving the Purple Heart and other combat medals. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents by a brother; Danny McKenzie. Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years, include a son; Benjamin Lee McKenzie, and wife Alicia, of Lexington, Kentucky. 2 grandchildren; Alex and Austin McKenzie, and 2 sisters; Janice Whitt of Ashland and Nola Miller of Flatwoods. Fred Chaffin, 90, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25th, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 1, 1935, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Fred was the son of the late Lum Chaffin and Carrie Bates Chaffin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nora “Tiny” Fain Chaffin; his son, Bobby David Chaffin; and his sister, Nannie Chaffin Church. Fred is survived by his son, Wayne Chaffin, and wife Anna, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and his daughter, Carolyn Chaffin of Berea, Kentucky. He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Candace Chaney of Berea and Ashley Chaney Smith, and husband James, of Richmond, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren, Eammonn Morris, Freddy Smith, and Alena Smith; as well as a nephew, Robert Church, and two nieces, Janet Church Walker and Joanna Church Robbins, all of Ashland, Kentucky. Fred retired in 2000 from Kentucky Electric Steel after 36 years of dedicated service. He was the devoted pastor of First Macedonia Church of Catlettsburg, where he served faithfully from 1995 until his passing. Fred leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering love. He was a guiding light to many—known for his gentle spirit, childlike sense of humor, and love of singing. Fred will be remembered not only for his spiritual leadership but for the quiet moments of connection he shared: prayers whispered at hospital bedsides, laughter around the dinner table, and the countless lives he touched simply by being present. Services will be held at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Michael York. Burial will follow at Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky.
