Appleseed Community Mental Health Center

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is a not for profit community mental health agency.

Appleseed walks with families and individuals on their journey to live healthy, whole, and productive lives by offering comprehensive and integrated behavioral health, housing, outreach & prevention, substance-use disorder, and victim services. Appleseed wishes to maximize an individual’s existing strengths, focus on solutions and create a supportive environment for people suffering from mental illness. This is in contrast to focusing on existing weaknesses, problems, and creating an environment not chosen by the individual. Appleseed strives to serve individuals in the least restrictive, most appropriate environment possible. Appleseed seeks to address the needs of all Ashland County residents, including the needs of the general public and the needs of people with severe mental disability, as identified both in the Ashland County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services’ community plan and through Appleseed’s needs assessment activities.

Chocolate fountain + good company = a pretty great Valentine’s Day at Appleseed. 🍫❤️

We’re grateful for a team that shows up for our community every day — and for small moments like this that let us pause, connect, and celebrate together.

However you’re spending today, we hope it includes kindness (and maybe a little chocolate).

This week, Appleseed staff wore orange in recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. 🧡

Wearing orange is a small but visible way to stand in support of teens and young adults navigating relationships, and to raise awareness about the importance of healthy, safe connections.

We remain committed to prevention, education, and supporting individuals and families in our community.

For Black History Month, we’re recognizing Dr. Mamie Phipps Clark, a psychologist whose work helped reshape how the U.S. understands the mental and emotional development of children.

Her research on racial identity and self-worth was instrumental in Brown v. Board of Education and demonstrated how segregation harms children long before adulthood.

Mental health isn’t just about individual coping; it’s about the environments we create. Dr. Clark’s work reminds us that advocacy, research, and care are deeply connected.
