This month, we are excited to feature Jackie Daugherty, our Business Office Manager.

Jackie Daugherty was born in Utah and moved to Southern Oregon at a young age, growing up in Medford and graduating from North Medford High School in 1988.

Her passion for working with seniors began at just 15 years old when she worked in the kitchen of a retirement home alongside her mother, who was a CNA.

As a single mother, Jackie raised four children while building a career dedicated to helping others. She later earned her Associate’s degree in Human Services from Rogue Community College and gained experience in both senior care and office management.

In 2024, Jackie returned to Oregon and joined Village at Valley View, where she continues her commitment to supporting seniors and their families.

Outside of work, Jackie enjoys genealogy and helping reunite adoptees with their birth families. She also loves spending time with her grandchildren and is excited to welcome two granddaughters this summer.

📚 Village at Valley View Resource Library 📚

At Village at Valley View, we believe that knowledge, support, and shared experiences make the journey through Alzheimer’s and Dementia a little easier. Our Resource Library was created for our residents’ families, friends, and visitors as a place to learn, grow, and support one another.

Families are welcome to take a book, borrow a book, or trade a book. By sharing resources and experiences, we help each other better understand the different stages of Alzheimer’s and Dementia and find comfort in knowing we are not alone on this journey.

Whether you're looking for guidance, reassurance, or simply a new perspective, our library is here for you. Together we can continue learning, supporting, and growing as a community. 💜

📖 Take a book. Leave a book. Share the knowledge.

Here at Village at Valley View Memory Care, garden clean-up day turned into so much more than pulling weeds and refreshing flower beds — it became a beautiful moment of purpose, teamwork, and joy.

Our resident(s) who love to help rolled up their sleeves, enjoyed the fresh air, and took pride in making our outdoor spaces bloom again. 🌼 From tidying up planter boxes to gently tending the soil, every helping hand made a difference.

Gardening isn’t just about plants — it’s about:
🌱 Stimulating the senses
🌞 Soaking up vitamin D-even on cloudy days
💚 Encouraging movement and coordination
🤝 Building connection and purpose

The smiles, the laughter, and the sense of accomplishment were the real blossoms of the day.

We are so proud of our residents and grateful for these meaningful moments together.

💙 Happy National Caregivers Day! 💙

On Friday February 20th, we celebrated the true heroes of Village at Valley View — our incredible caregivers. The compassionate hearts, steady hands, and familiar smiles that make our community feel like home.

In memory care, caregiving isn’t just a job… it’s a calling. It’s patience during difficult moments. It’s laughter during activities. It’s gentle reassurance. It’s knowing each resident’s story and honoring it every single day.

We are beyond grateful for the dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment our care team shows — not just today, but every day. 💫

This year, we wanted to show a little extra appreciation to our staff who have poured so much love into our community. As a small token of our gratitude, we gifted them Village at Valley View sweatshirts and another small gift — a symbol of the pride, unity, and heart they bring to our team. 🫶

To our caregivers:
Thank you for the early mornings.
Thank you for the late nights.
Thank you for the comfort you provide families.
Thank you for loving our residents like your own.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we are so proud to have you as part of the Village family. 💙

February Employee Spotlight: Teresa Lehman-Wellness Director

This month, we are excited to feature Teresa Lehman, our dedicated LPN and Wellness Director.

Teresa is a lifelong Southern Oregon resident, born and raised in Ashland and the Colestin Valley. She attended Bellview Elementary, Ashland Middle School, and Ashland High School, and even spent a year in Redding, California while completing nursing school. As a proud fourth-generation Southern Oregonian, Teresa has deep roots in our community, with both of her parents also attending Ashland schools.

Family is at the heart of Teresa’s life. She shares a close bond with her sister, Nicole, whom she calls her best friend, and she treasures time spent with her niece and nephew. When she’s not at work, Teresa loves being outdoors — whether she’s camping, hunting, fishing, or riding ATVs. She also enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.

Teresa’s passion for memory care began right after high school when she became a CNA at Ashland Hospital. Over four years working in geriatrics and memory care, she discovered how much she loved listening to residents’ stories and learning from their life experiences. After spending another four years in home health, her dedication only grew stronger. Teresa believes deeply in providing compassionate, respectful care and ensuring that every memory care resident receives the dignity, support, and attention they truly deserve. We are grateful to have her leadership, heart, and commitment here at Village at Valley View.

💛 The Heart Behind the Joy at Village at Valley View 💛

At Village at Valley View, activities are so much more than something on a calendar — they’re moments of connection, comfort, and joy. And at the center of it all are Hollie, our Activities Director, along with Camile and Eve, our incredible Activities Assistants.

Every day, this amazing team shows up with creativity, patience, and genuine love for our residents. Whether they’re painting together 🎨, singing along to familiar songs 🎶, baking favorite treats 🍪, crafting seasonal projects ✂️, or simply sitting side-by-side sharing stories and laughter 🤍 — they create moments that truly matter.

They don’t just plan activities…
✨ They spark smiles
✨ They awaken memories
✨ They nurture dignity and purpose

They understand that a familiar song can unlock a memory, that laughter can brighten even the toughest days, and that human connection is the most meaningful activity of all. Through their compassion and warmth, Hollie, Camile, and Eve help our residents continue to feel seen, valued, and deeply loved every single day.

We are beyond grateful for the hearts they pour into our community and the joy they bring to our residents and families. 💛

Thank you, Hollie, Camile, and Eve, for making Village at Valley View a place where memories are honored and joy lives on. 🌼

🍦🎶 Bringing Back Ice Cream Truck Memories — with a Twist! 🎶🍦

Thanks to our wonderful friends at , we turned back the clock and brought the joy of an ice cream truck right into our community!

We played classic ice cream truck music and invited our residents to “shop” for their favorite treats and drinks using fun money — adding an extra layer of smiles, choice, and nostalgic delight. From sweet treats to shared laughter, it was a simple moment that sparked big memories and even bigger joy. 💙🍨

Thank you, Bristol Hospice, for helping us create such a meaningful and playful experience for our residents!
