Attention Airman and ATC:
This is for anyone that completed the Medxpress over the MLK holiday weekend through Tuesday. You will need to redo the medxpress form. It wasn't saved in the system.

For your awareness:
The test environment for MedXPress was inadvertently left open this past weekend, and through Tuesday morning, January 18. This resulted in a number of users (airman and air traffic controllers) logging into the test environment. These applications are not saved or recoverable.
Of note, when the test environment is open, a Warning Page is posted to alert users any data they enter will be lost. Regrettably, some users did not see the warning and entered their 8500-8 application into the test environment. The result is that for any application entered in the test environment, THE CONFIRMATION NUMBER WILL NOT WORK IN THE OPERATIONAL VERSION OF AMCS.
Unfortunately, the only solution is for the applicant to enter a new application in the operational version of MedXPress (medxpress.faa.gov). We do apologize for the inconvenience to you and your airmen.

The most recent Civil Aviation Medical Association meeting noted a continued and ever decreasing number of Aviation Medical Examiners. We are aware that the number of Medical Examiners has greatly declined in the last 10 years. While we still strive to provide excellent service to our professional pilots and part 141 student pilots we are aware of the struggles the students not enrolled in college programs and private pilots needing 3rd class medicals are facing in today’s environment. Dr. Steinhauser will provide 3rd class medicals on a limited basis as his schedule permits. Private pilots MUST call to schedule a medical.

AIRMAN: the Google direction link on our confirmation email is faulty. It takes you to the ODOT in Ashland County. Please use the Ashland County Airport 700 Township Road 1102 Ashland, Ohio 44805 (3G4) or Lorain County Airport 44050 Russia Road Elyria, Ohio 44035 (KLPR). We have contacted Booksy to have the matter corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

The website will look a bit different and you will need a new app on your smartphone but we look forward to this new partnership. The online schedule service that we have used for the last 14 years Genbook has merged with a new company called Booksy. We have been assured all of our data and scheduling information will remain current and available throughout the transition. However, we have received calls with questions and difficulties with the services at times. If you experience any difficulties with our online scheduling during the next few weeks please call our office and we will be happy to help you with scheduling your appointment. Note: The Air Medical System (Medxpress) will be down. AME's will be unable to access the system or print medical certificates during this time.
Beginning Wednesday October 13, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. through Thursday October 14, 2021 at approximately 5:00 p.m., AMCS will not be available. We are updating the existing database software with the most current version. This update is necessary and overdue maintenance required for future upgrades, which cannot be accomplished at any other time due to the extensive nature of the upgrades.

We apologize for the lengthy amount of down time, and we apologize for any impact to your medical practice.

When navigating to the Ashland office DO NOT use Google!! It will take you to the hospital not the airport. Yes, we know it is wrong, Yes, we have told them, NO, they don't care! Google is NOT your friend!
