Bella Care Hospice Ashtabula

Bella Care Hospice Ashtabula CELEBRATE LIFE! Hospice is a set of services that we all may need someday -- if not for ourselves, for our family or friends.

While death is not an option for any of us, we do have choices about the services we use at the end of life. Hospice is undoubtedly the best option in the last months of life because it offers a whole variety of benefits, not only to those of us who are dying, but also to those we leave behind. Yet, despite its many advantages, hospice is still a mystery to most Americans, even 25 years after its introduction to this country. Now, more than ever, there is a sense of urgency to dispel the myths and to learn as much as possible about hospice. After all, when Bella Care Hospice is involved with people, the quote we hear most often is “I wish that we had learned about this sooner.”

When death is in sight, there are two options: submit without hope or live life as fully as ever until the end. The gift of hospice is its capacity to help families see how much can be shared at the end of life through personal and spiritual connections often left behind. It is no wonder that many family members can look back upon their hospice experience with gratitude, and with the knowledge that everything possible was done towards a peaceful death.

March is Social Worker Appreciation Month, and this year’s theme says it all: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

Hospice social workers uplift patients and families with compassion, guidance, and emotional support during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. They defend the dignity, wishes, and voices of those we serve, ensuring every patient receives care that honors who they are. And through their advocacy, resources, and unwavering dedication, they help transform difficult journeys into ones filled with comfort, understanding, and peace.

We are incredibly grateful for the Bella Care social workers who make a profound difference every day.

Please join us in thanking and celebrating the social workers who uplift, defend, and transform lives. 💜

Thank you, Peter Murphy Lewis, for this incredible spotlight on Hospice Care. Working in hospice is more than a job—it’s a calling. 💜

So much of this rang true for Bella Care. Hospice care is about showing up for people in one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. It means providing comfort, dignity, and compassion to patients and their families when it matters most. 💜

Hospice reminds us that care isn’t just about curing—it’s about caring. And that kind of work changes lives, including your own.

If you’re looking for a career rooted in empathy, purpose, and humanity, hospice care might be exactly where you belong. 🌿

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Krystina, our new Director of Volunteer Services! We know she will do great things with the department! 💜

My name is Krystina, and I am honored to serve as the new Director of Volunteer Services for Bella Care Hospice. My journey with the Bella Care family began in 2023 at our Ashtabula branch, where I served as the Business Office Manager and HR Designee. I am proud to be part of a culture that not only supports excellence in patient care but also encourages the personal and professional growth of its employees.

I am excited to begin this next chapter of my career. I have always felt a calling to healthcare, a passion deeply rooted in the influence of my grandmother. She spent her life caring for loved ones, some even in their final moments and often spoke of her desire to provide companionship to patients who otherwise had no one.
Little did I know, her compassionate nature would pave the way for my future. Her words continue to resonate with me as I now step into this role, and it is a true privilege to bring my grandmother’s dreams to life across the State of Ohio. I’m looking forward to continued growth and success as we bring comfort and companionship within our volunteer department to those who need it most.
Beyond my professional life, I am a wife of 13 years and a mother to two beautiful daughters 14 and 8. I cherish spending time with my family and our two German Shepherds. I believe in leading with heart, finding joy in the journey, and making a difference wherever I can because even the smallest acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact.

🌟 Teacher Me Tuesday 🌟

This week, we are sharing information on the Hospice Philosophy.

💟💟 Hospice Philosophy 💟💟

💫 Comfort Over Cure
Hospice emphasizes palliative care — relieving pain and symptoms — instead of aggressive treatments aimed at curing the illness.

💫 Quality of Life
The goal is to help patients live as fully and comfortably as possible, even in the final stages of life.

💫 Patient & Family-Centered Care
Care includes both the patient and their loved ones.

💫 Interdisciplinary Team Approach
A team typically includes: Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Chaplains / Spiritual Counselors, Hospice Aides & Volunteers. The team works together to meet medical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient & family.

💫 Dignity & Respect
Hospice honors the patient’s wishes, values, and choices — including decisions about where and how they want to receive care - such as at home, in an assisted living facility, or in a nursing facility.

💫 Neither Hastens Nor Postpones Death
Hospice affirms life and views dying as a natural process. It does not attempt to speed up death nor artificially prolong it.

Today we honor the heart of hospice care — our caregivers. 💜

On National Caregivers Day, we recognize the extraordinary compassion, strength, and dedication of those who care for others during life’s most vulnerable moments.

Whether you are a family member caring for a loved one at home, a professional nurse, aide, social worker, chaplain, or volunteer — your work matters. You bring comfort when it’s needed most. You offer dignity, presence, and peace. You stand beside families through some of their hardest days.

Caregiving is an act of love — and it is not always easy. We see the early mornings, the late nights, the quiet sacrifices, and the unwavering commitment. Today, we celebrate you.

If you are a caregiver:
• Remember to care for yourself, too.
• Accept support when it’s offered.
• Know that you are not alone.

From all of us at Bella Care Hospice, thank you for the light you bring into the lives of others every single day. 💐
