Stop by Clatsop County Public Health for a free locking medication bag, lock box, or medication disposal kit.

It’s National Poison Prevention Week, and we’re highlighting a hidden danger in our homes.

Ni****ne pouch ingestions rose 763.1% from 2020–2023. They are more likely to cause serious medical harm to kids than other products.

How to keep your home safe:
• Up, Away, and Locked: Store products in a locked cabinet or box, away from food.
• Mind the Bags: Purses and backpacks are "hot zones." Keep them out of reach if they contain ni****ne products.
• Out of Sight: Avoid using these products in front of children, especially if the packaging looks like candy or treats.
• Spread the Word: Ask grandparents and caregivers to follow these same rules.

The number of Oregon adults who drink excessively is more than most of us may realize— more than 1 in 5. The consequences are bigger, too. Most people in this group are not affected by alcoholism or alcohol use disorder.
But, by drinking excessively, you may increase your risk of developing an alcohol use disorder later in life. It’s easy to cross the line into higher-risk drinking without realizing, especially when drinking this way is normalized in our society. Noticing when drinking starts to shift can help.
