Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in the United States for both men and women under the age of 50.

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) reported that colorectal cancer mortality has risen 1 percent annually since 2005, an increase that has now placed colorectal cancer as the No. 1 cause of cancer mortality in young adults.

Bonnie is an outstanding nurse who consistently demonstrates exceptional care, compassion, and clinical knowledge. She goes above and beyond to ensure every patient feels seen, respected, and supported.

In her nomination letter, a patient shared how deeply Bonnie’s care made an impact: “Bonnie exceeded expectations by ensuring I felt acknowledged and treated with dignity and professionalism. She showed great compassion toward both my partner and me and made an incredibly challenging experience feel manageable. She is an exceptional nurse and individual, and I feel fortunate to have received her assistance.”

We were honored to welcome Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Health of the Hellenic Republic, to Mount Sinai Queens this week. We are grateful for the opportunity to host him and to showcase the dedication, collaboration, and compassionate care of our incredible staff, leaders, and community partners.

We look forward to continuing our partnership, exploring future collaboration, and welcoming the Minister back to our campus again soon!

Celebrating Patient Safety Excellence at Mount Sinai Queens! 👏💙

In the week leading up to Thanksgiving, we had so much fun connecting with staff across all units and shifts to celebrate their incredible achievements in patient safety! From the 6th Floor (ICU & 6 East) to every inpatient unit, we recognized our teams for their HAIs-Free, HAPI-Free, and Falls-Free milestones—true evidence of their dedication to keeping patients safe every day.

Thank you to all our amazing team members for making safety a top priority and for bringing so much energy and pride to this celebration. Your hard work truly makes a difference!

Mount Sinai Queens is proud to be the only hospital in Queens to earn Magnet designation three consecutive times. This honor reflects nursing excellence, exceptional patient care, and a commitment to going above and beyond every day.

This week, we celebrated Patient Transport Week and the incredible team members who help move our patients safely and with care. Our patient transporters keep the hospital running smoothly—getting patients to tests, surgeries, and rooms on time while offering comfort and reassurance along the way.

Thanks to the generosity of our Mount Sinai Queens community, 488 pairs of socks were donated this October as part of Socktober! All donations went to Reality House, a local addiction treatment center supporting those in need.

A special shoutout to Mount Sinai Queens-Family Health, who led the way by donating over 100 pairs of socks! The most of any department!

Exciting news for cardiac care at Mount Sinai Queens! As of Monday, November 3, our newly designated Procedural Suite (formerly the Stroke Center) is now performing cardiac catheterization procedures! This expansion allows us to care for more patients and meet the growing demand for timely, high-quality cardiac care in our community.

The suite includes a dedicated recovery area for a seamless, patient-centered experience and a repurposed CT scanner to help reduce wait times for diagnostic radiology scans.

We’re proud to continue advancing exceptional cardiac care for our patients — from start to finish. ❤️
