CLARK MOSES SERVICE UPDATE
The services scheduled for Saturday, January 24th in Effingham for Clark Moses have been postponed and will be rescheduled in the Spring of 2026, due to weather concerns. Information will be shared at a later date with new service information.

Patricia Betts
1952-2026

Patricia Betts, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri, on January 20, 2026, at the age of 73.

Cremation care has been provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.

Rose Gerdes
1932-2026

Rose Gerdes, age 93, of Atchison, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Atchison Senior Village.

Services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at St. Benedict Church, beginning with a parish rosary at 10:00 AM, followed by visitation. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, and a lunch will be served at St. Joseph Church lower level, 801 Spring Garden St, Atchison, KS, following the burial rites. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict’s Abbey. Cremation care entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Chuck Trotter
1957-2025

Charles Hilary Trotter, fondly known as Chuck, departed this world on January 2, 2026, after a brief illness.

A visitation with the family to share memories and celebrate Chuck’s life will be on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Benedict Church in Atchison with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Chuck will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and as Chuck would want, a celebration will follow the services. Memorials may be left to Maur Hill-Mt. Academy or Atchison Humane Society. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with Chuck's funeral care.

Thomas Bonnel
1958-2025

Thomas James Bonnel, age 67, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

A visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Ann's Church, 301 William Street, Effingham, KS. This will be followed by a funeral mass beginning at 1:00 PM, with interment at St. Ann's Cemetery. Fr Roopesh Govindu will serve as celebrant.

Robert “Bob” Bona
1928-2025

Robert Edward “Bob” Bona, age 97, of Atchison, KS, passed on December 27, 2025.

The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation care for Mr. Bona. No services will be held at this time. He will be laid to rest next to his parents and siblings in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in New Brighton, MN.

John Van D**e, Jr.
1960-2025

John Malone Van D**e, Jr. died December 24, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas following an illness. He was surrounded by his family. John was an organ donor in the hope of being a Christmas miracle for another person in need.

Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday December 27, 2025, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as officiant. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in John’s memory to The Guidance Center in Atchison, Kansas. Service care provided by the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Lee Eckert
1940-2025

Lee Eckert, of Atchison, passed away on December 7, 2025, at The University of Kansas Health System at the age of 85.

Visitation with the family will be held at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at St. Joseph Church on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow in the lower level of the church. Private family burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Effingham. Memorials may be left to St. Benedict Catholic School (SBCS) or the Atchison County Community Schools Education Fund (ACCSEF) in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Mary Evelyn Sexton, a cherished member of the Atchison community, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025.

A visitation will be held at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM, followed by a funeral service that will begin at 6:30 PM, with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

John passed away peacefully at his home on November 24, 2025, at the age of 73.

A Masonic Service will be at 6:00 PM on December 3, 2025, with visitation to follow from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Rachel Dannar presiding. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Clark Guy Moses, 76, beloved father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Effingham, Kansas.

Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Evergreen Cemetery with a Celebration of Life being planned immediately following the burial at the Senior Center in Effingham, the community he called home for most of his life.
