Charles Hilary Trotter, fondly known as Chuck, departed this world on January 2, 2026, after a brief illness.

A visitation with the family to share memories and celebrate Chuck’s life will be on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Benedict Church in Atchison with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Chuck will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and as Chuck would want, a celebration will follow the services. Memorials may be left to Maur Hill-Mt. Academy or Atchison Humane Society. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with Chuck's funeral care.

A visitation will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Ann's Church, 301 William Street, Effingham, KS. This will be followed by a funeral mass beginning at 1:00 PM, with interment at St. Ann's Cemetery. Fr Roopesh Govindu will serve as celebrant.

John Malone Van D**e, Jr. died December 24, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas following an illness. He was surrounded by his family. John was an organ donor in the hope of being a Christmas miracle for another person in need.

Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday December 27, 2025, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 PM, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as officiant. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in John’s memory to The Guidance Center in Atchison, Kansas. Funeral services will take place at St. Joseph Church on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow in the lower level of the church. Private family burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Effingham. Memorials may be left to St. Benedict Catholic School (SBCS) or the Atchison County Community Schools Education Fund (ACCSEF) in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
