I have decided to make weekly posts about the benefits of the services that we offer.
This week: vibroacoustic therapy
Vibroacoustic therapy is a holistic, noninvasive technique that uses audible sound waves and vibrations to ease acute and chronic pain, as well as several additional conditions and symptoms. This technique is also referred to by a variety of additional terms, including vibroacoustic stimulation, vibrotactile intervention, and rhythmic sensory stimulation.
Modern vibroacoustic therapy dates back to the late 1970s and early 1980s when practitioners and inventors from Finland, Norway, and the United States developed ways to incorporate sound waves into various therapies.
Low frequency, sound waves between 30 and 120 Hz are transmitted to the body by embedded transducers in the bed. The sound gently permeates the cells allowing massage from inside as well as out. Because our bodies are approximately 60%-70% water, water transmits sound and vibrations perfectly to our bodies.
While more research is ongoing, vibroacoustic therapy provides a relaxing environment where many people experience improved well-being. Results vary, but sound and vibration have been used to promote relaxation and balance for hundreds of years for healing practices.
Some of the noted benefits of vibroacoustic therapy include reduce stress and anxiety, improved sleep quality, improved mood, and the relief of some chronic pain conditions due to the release of endorphins which are the bodies natural painkillers. Don’t hesitate to check out our website and book your session today.
