We also talk about music therapy being person-centered, but what does that mean?

When we work with a client or group, music therapists create goals and activities that fit those specific clients. We think about their preferences when choosing songs, instruments, and themes. That’s what can make music therapy so motivating, using your music to help you accomplish your goals!

Music therapy is all about using music in a clinical way, but what does that really look like?

Every intervention a music therapist plans has a goal that is not just about the music. Sometimes it may look like we’re having a sing‑along, but we’re actually working on memory recall. Other times it may look like we’re just playing instruments, but we’re working to promote fine and gross motor movement. It all looks different depending on who we’re working with!
