Meet Bengie Evans, a left below-the-knee amputee whose journey is a powerful testament to perseverance and determination.

From the very first day he walked through our doors — before amputation and on crutches to be fit with an offloading boot — Bengie carried himself with unwavering positivity and the biggest smile. Through every step of the process, he never lost hope.

Today, Bengie is thriving in his daily life with his new prosthetic, embracing renewed independence and joy.

When asked to share his story, Bengie said:

“In 2001, I was crushed between a forklift and a truck. As a result, my foot was paralyzed for more than 20 years. Over time, it became clear that healing wasn’t possible, and amputation was the best option.

Receiving my prosthetic gave me my life back. It restored my independence and, most importantly, my happiness. Now, I wake up every morning ready and excited for the day ahead.

David Roberts, a bilateral below-knee amputee, continues to inspire us with his resilience and determination. He recently shared that it had been nearly eight years since he’d walked on the beach or felt the ocean — but that changed during a deep-sea fishing trip our team took in July.

Watching David step into the water again was more than just a moment — it was a powerful reminder of confidence regained and freedom rediscovered. Experiences like this remind us exactly why we do what we do: helping restore not only mobility, but the joy of truly living again.

Can't thank Family Tradition Charters enough for putting us on the fish Monday!! We had such an awesome time hauling 'em in. Lots of smiles and memories made with patients, looking forward to the next trip!
