Happy Hump Day!

Did you know callouses are actually the body’s way of protecting the foot from too much pressure? If left untreated it will continue to build and grow. Check out this informative site and call us for an appointment to address any of your foot or ankle concerns. Have a great rest of the week!

Calluses is an accumulation of dead skin cells that harden and thicken over an area of the foot to protect against excessive pressure and friction.

Did you know?

The human foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles and tendons with nearly 8000 nerves!
That is almost a quarter of the bones in the human body! Your feet are natural shock absorbers smoothing out the impact of a landing force that exceeds your body weight. When running that force is even more. Feet are often one of the most under appreciated parts of the body. Walking or running seem simple but it’s actually more complicated. When walking or running you push a force to the ground and the ground pushes back in the opposite direction propelling you forward. Newton’s third law comes into play. When the heel lifts off the ground it forces the toes to carry one half of the your body weight leading the toes to be just as important as the rest of your feet. Most do not know all that the feet take on and do in order to keep you moving each day.

Take care of them, you only have two! Some of the damage done to your feet is irreversible if addressed to late. Don’t underestimate the work and force they take on in your daily life. If they are needing care, seek out a specialist to ensure they have the best care.
