Mission
The mission of the Athens Community Arts, Parks, and Recreation department is to provide Athens and area residents comprehensive programs, activities, and facilities that encourage health, fitness, and cultural, recreational, educational, and social opportunities in our community. The purpose of this site is to present matters of public interest to City of Athens residents, businesses, visitors and other interested parties. You may submit your comments, but please note this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum. Once posted, the City reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language; personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, or religious group. Further, the City also reserves the right to delete the following comments:
1.Contain spam, advertising or include links to other sites
2.Clearly off topic, and/or disruptive
3.Advocate illegal activity
4.Promote particular services, products, or political organizations
5.Infringe on copyrights or trademarks
6.Violate any City of Athens Policies

Don't forget to come out tomorrow for our Egg Hunt! We always have a good time and can't wait to spend the afternoon with our community!

Join the Athens Arts, Parks and Recreation Department for an afternoon of springtime fun at our annual Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM!

Families are invited to enjoy an exciting day filled with music, activities, crafts, games, and plenty of festive fun leading up to the main event — the Egg Hunt beginning at 1:30 PM. Egg hunts will be separated by age groups to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, and an accessible egg hunt will also be available so every child can join in the celebration.

Each child participating in the egg hunt will take home a goodie bag packed with fun surprises!

Bring your baskets, gather your friends and family, and celebrate the season with us at this beloved community tradition.
