Mindfulness… The Great Blue Heron, totemic, one of my greatest teachers of acupuncture theory. I have spent many moments in stillness, observing how their patience aids precision. Movement would ripple the water’s surface and obscure their clarity of vision, scare the fish away, find us even further from the sustenance we crave. This stillness I cultivate is not passive, however. Utmost Yin contains the seed of Yang, chance favors the prepared mind. I do my homework, gather most useful information for each treatment, then I let go, I become an empty vessel ready to intake those patterns I’ve been training years to recognize. After all the effort, I yield to the effortless openness of direct observation. I’m often told I seem exceptionally calm, but like the Great Blue Herons with which I’ve spent time, I am not calm, I am teeming with awareness, I am readying myself for Right Action. So, come unwind with me in my ridiculously comfortable treatment room! I’ll stay “calm” for the both of us; we’ll bring to the surface those hidden patterns that hold us back from the flow state we seek: HARMONY, in a word, awaits! : ) 🙏🤔
