As National Nutrition Month comes to an end, remember that eating nutritious food is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Eating a variety of fruit, vegtables, whole grains, and lean protein can help you ward off many illnesses, maintain a healthy weight, and give you the energy you need to exercise at WellWorks. Schedule an appointment with our Dietitian who can help you plan a diet that is individualized and economical.

Here are some more ways to sneak more nutrients into your day:
- Add beans to your tacos, yum! Aim to eat beans 3x/week.
- Always have a vegetable on the side with your meal. Try brocolli with pasta, salad with pizza, carrots sticks with your sandwich (even with PB&J).
- Add some extra vegetables to your soups and chilli
- Eat berries with your breakfast. They work great in cereal, yogurt, oats, and smoothies!
- Try a new food every week. There is such a variety of fruit, vegetables, beans, and grains.
- Try a new cooking technique. Roasted vegetables taste very different than steamed.
Most importantly, be adventurous and have fun!!

How can you add in 1 more serving of fruit and 1 serving of vegetables today?
- Have grapes and carrots for a snack.
- Add a side sald to your meal and have a cup of berries for desert. - Top your soup off with a handful of greens, or them to your sandwich!

What are some healthy eating habits?
- Adding fruit and /or vegetables to every meal with a goal of at least 5 servings every day
- Choosing carbohydrates and grains that are nutrient rich and contain fiber
- choosing lean protein sources such as beans, nuts, fish, poultry, and ocationally lean cuts of pork and beef
- Drink plenty of water - at least 8 cups.
