East Georgia Cancer Coalition The EGCC is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization uniting cancer resources across 53 counties in east GA

East Georgia Cancer Coalition serves 53 counties in Georgia. Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death in GA and our region accounts for 55.9% of Georgia's cancer related deaths. In order to ensure that our community is receiving sufficient cancer support and education we give presentations on prevalent cancer types, advocate for preventative screenings, disseminate health messages in the community, and refer individuals to relevant resources. Young adults are the only group experiencing an increase in colorectal cancer.

At the moment it is deadliest cancer among young men and the 2nd deadliest among young women.

According to experts, more than half of the cases may be connected to risk factors you can change:

Diet (especially processed meats)
Lack of physical activity
Smoking
Alcohol use

We all know the importance of exercise…. Especially for individuals who have been impacted by Cancer.

But unfortunately, not everyone has access to a gym or to the right trainer.

We are excited to announce that we are starting another FREE 6 week exercise program for anyone who has been affected by cancer!

Classes will be held at with small group sessions to ensure everyone receives personalized attention from the trainers.

✨ Open to individuals at any stage of their cancer journey
✨ Small class size (limited to 10 participants)
✨ Caregivers or friends are welcome to join as a “plus one”

Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death. Here in the U.S. over 150,000 people were diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer in 2025.

If detected early, Colorectal Cancer is highly treatable.

Risk factors for bile duct cancer:
-Parasitic Infections: Infection with liver flukes in Southeast Asia from eating raw or undercooked fish.
-Liver and Bile Duct Conditions: Chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis (a disease that causes hardening of bile ducts), and bile duct cysts.
-Chronic Inflammatory Conditions: Chronic ulcerative colitis.
-Other Conditions: Diabetes, obesity, and hepatitis B or C.
-Age: The risk increases with age.
-Genetics: Inherited conditions can increase risk.
-Smoking: Smoking is a recognized risk factor.
