Welcome, Stephanie Curtis!

We are excited to introduce Stephanie Curtis, LPCC, as an affiliate counselor at Albany Counseling Services! Stephanie specializes in working with children and adolescents (ages 5 and up), helping them navigate emotional and social challenges in a safe and supportive environment. She is now accepting new clients and even offers Saturday hours to accommodate busy families!

With 10 years of experience, Stephanie is passionate about helping young people build confidence, resilience, and healthy coping skills. She believes that every child can grow, heal, and thrive with the right support.

Stephanie tailors therapy to meet each child’s unique needs, using evidence-based approaches such as play therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Through her warm and engaging approach, she helps children and teens express themselves, develop emotional regulation skills, and overcome obstacles in a way that feels natural and empowering.

Stephanie shares, “I love helping children and teens plant seeds of growth and resilience. My goal is to equip them with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence—both now and in the future.”

We’re thrilled to have Stephanie on our team of affiliate counselors! If you’re looking for compassionate support for your child or teen, reach out to Stephanie at 740-753-8641 or e-mail her at stephanie.curtis@tenderrootscounseling.com.

The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund has awarded a significant child abuse prevention grant to the Fairfield County Family and Children First Council and Albany Counseling Services will be the partnering entity! The Map Forward Project: Neuroscience for Hopeful Futures in Fairfield County will provide training for schools, clinicians and other community service providers utilizing the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics™️. Our comprehensive Map Forward Assessment Package will be provided to 25 children and their primary caregivers. Our goal is to reduce caregiver burden, a key factor in child abuse, by working directly with children and their caregivers to increase caregiver resources and to improve overall functioning of the child. The project is considered to be a pilot project to potentially be replicated throughout the state. We are so excited to be working in the Fairfield County community!

Especially Now. Experience Matters.

The pace of social change is intensifying. Kids and families face obstacles and opportunities, pitfalls and potential that didn’t even exist just five years back. How do we navigate and help our children navigate the new emotional and developmental minefield in the age of Instagram? And, just as importantly, how do we mobilize and offer our children the latest thinking in biology, wellness education, neuroscience and psychology that can provide critical tools for life success?

We know that even though some of the challenges can feel new, effective solutions are always rooted in earned trust and proven experience. Children and families deserve an opportunity to work with highly-trained clinical professionals whose credibility is built on years of successful human and community problem-solving.

We’re excited to be at this intersection of both the challenges and the great promise of these times, providing you with the very best in the art and science of counseling.

We’re building Albany Counseling Services to meet the growing need for effective, state of the art behavioral health services for children, adolescents, families, and young adults. Our group of independently licensed professional counselors and social workers have deep roots in the Athens area. We’ve worked for years with community agencies, schools and nonprofits to offer cutting edge counseling and social education programs that have helped countless kids grow and learn. We believe evidence-based models of behavioral health counseling and community learning are most effective when delivered through trusted relationships, a focus on strength-based development, an interdisciplinary framework and a deep commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.
