Athol Hospital’s services include 24/7 Emergency Care, Surgical Services, Oncology, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology and Laboratory, Diabetes Center and the Center for Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. It is designated as a Critical Access Hospital and Primary Stroke Center, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and accredited by the Joint Commission.

This moving photo display, Not Just a Number, shares the strength and resilience of 20 women in recovery, alongside a documentary that brings their stories to life.

Recovery is strength. Healing is hope. Women rise together.

We are celebrating Physician Week by spotlighting the dedicated Internal Medicine physicians of Heywood Healthcare 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Dr. Laforet:
“What I enjoy most about internal medicine is caring for the whole patient. We draw on knowledge from every system in the body to diagnose and treat complex conditions, while also considering the patient’s psychological and emotional well-being. I value being able to not only treat patients, but also follow their progress and see the impact of that care over time.

In my time here, I’ve seen a strong need for primary care in this community, which has made this work even more meaningful. The patients I’ve met have been incredibly kind and grateful, and I’ve felt truly welcomed by both the hospital staff and the community. I look forward to continuing to serve and care for my patients for years to come.”

Dr. Jeng is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with over two decades of experience in preventive women’s health, prenatal and postpartum care, and gynecologic care. She is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and partnering with patients to support their long-term health and well-being.

An Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), Dr. Jeng brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for helping women achieve their health goals through high-quality, personalized care.

Dr. Zaidi:
“I enjoy working in the emergency department as a provider because it allows me to care for a wide variety of patients and medical conditions. From treating simple lacerations to managing life-threatening emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, and trauma, the diversity of cases keeps me motivated and fulfilled.

Working in a community hospital is especially meaningful to me because it allows me to connect with patients on a more personal level while still providing high-quality emergency care. I have been practicing as an emergency physician for 26 years, and my passion for helping patients in critical moments remains just as strong today.”

With 26 years of experience, Dr. Zaidi continues to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our community when it matters most.
