Research shows many individuals with Autism experience higher rates of co-occurring mental health conditions, often shaped by stigma and barriers to care. On World Autism Acceptance Day, we recognize the importance of creating a more inclusive, compassionate world.

Acceptance looks like:

1️⃣ Valuing neurodiversity
2️⃣ Respecting individual strengths
3️⃣ Empowering self-advocacy
4️⃣ Challenging stigma
5️⃣ Expanding supportive care
6️⃣ Building stronger, more inclusive communities

Moving from awareness to acceptance helps people feel seen, supported, and understood.

What does acceptance mean to you?

Our 2026 Associates Luncheon was a meaningful day of connection and impact. Together, we raised over $150,000 to support psychiatric treatment programs for adults and teens at Skyland Trail.

We’re grateful to adolescent graduate Addi and guest speaker, Elyce Arons, CEO and co-founder of Frances Valentine, for sharing their voices with more than 400 attendees. Thank you to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and continues to support our mission. 💙

Our Story

About Skyland Trail Based in Atlanta, Skyland Trail is a nationally recognized nonprofit mental health treatment organization serving adults ages 18 and older. We offer expert, evidence-based psychiatric care alongside a compassionate, holistic path to wellness. This powerful mix makes Skyland Trail a different kind of mental health solution. Few things can be as overwhelming and frustrating as mental illness – or finding effective treatments. At Skyland Trail, we get it. Which is why we take a different approach to helping adults with mental health issues. Located in Atlanta, Skyland Trail is a nationally recognized nonprofit mental health treatment organization serving adults ages 18 and older. We’re not a hospital or lock-down institution, we’re one of the nation's top mental health treatment centers – a voluntary treatment community of clients finding new ways to overcome the limitations of their illness and reclaim their lives. But success is built on a two-way commitment – we’re committed to our patients and we ask our patients to commit to our approach. Each client has to put in the time and effort needed to make real and sustainable progress. As a long-term residential treatment facility, we’re serious about healing and we’re passionate about the community we serve.
