Day 2 of 7 — The Seven African Powers
Today we honor Oya, the powerful Orisha of wind, storms, and transformation.
Oya stands at the gates between worlds — often associated with the cemetery and the powerful forces that move between life and the spirit realm. She governs the winds that sweep things away and the storms that bring change.
In many traditions, Oya represents strength, protection, sudden transformation, and the power to clear away what no longer belongs. Where Oya moves, change follows.
She is also known as a fierce protector and a warrior spirit, carrying the energy of movement, power, and renewal.
This is Day 2 of our 7-day journey through the Seven African Powers.
Stop by the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum this week as we continue exploring the spirits, stories, and traditions connected to these powerful forces.
