Honoring my dear mentor, Dr. Grant Carlson, as he celebrates his well-earned retirement. ❤️

Dr. Carlson served as Chairman at Emory for 15 years, and I’ve been lucky to know him since I was a first-year medical student. He taught me how to be a surgeon— but more importantly, how to be a doctor. He led by example: treat patients with love and respect, listen deeply to their wants and needs, and always remember why we chose this profession in the first place.

And of course, no tribute would be complete without Phil Collins Radio playing in the background and a few classic Carlson-isms… “Let’s wail.”

So grateful for his mentorship, wisdom, and heart.

J society weekend with my people.

While I did know Dr. J myself, his commitment to education and training of residents lives on in the spirit of Emory.

Dr. Grant Carlson and .losken embody what it means to be a surgeon, educator, and mentor. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

In a similar fashion, my co-residents have taught me as much - about friendship, camaraderie , and our experiences at Emory won’t ever be forgotten. Love you all!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to talk to my daughter’s 3/4 year old class about being a doctor 👩🏼‍⚕️and . These kids were the sweetest - we talked about the heart beating❤️, how long your intestines are, and practiced being a surgeon by fishing candy out of jello!… 🐟I think we have some future surgeons on our hands. 💪🏼

It’s such a blessing 🙏🏼and the reason for doing all this to see the little kids get excited about learning…. Especially my own little red head ❤️❤️

In phoenix, with the one and only .losken. Mentors and friends are such an important part of this specialty… and without them we wouldn’t be where we are. They teach us with words and also by example. I learned so much from Dr. Losken both in and out of the operating room about plastic surgery, family, and life. So HUGE shout out to one of my biggest cheerleaders, the most amazing mentor, and great friend, Dr. Albert Losken. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I wouldn’t have made it without you!
