Over the last several years, CCSVI Atlanta has continued to see MS and Chronic Lyme patients with 95% of patients scoring 2/5 criteria, the minimum result to be positive for Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency. More than 50% of the patients evaluated scored well above the minimum criteria with the majority being 3/5 & 4/5 scores.
Patients are evaluated with the Zamboni protocol and a calculation of the Venous Hemodynamic Insufficiency Severity Score (VHISS). This score allows us to have specificity of patient result severity. The VHISS score also breaks down with consistent results being in the same range per patient group evaluated (e.g. SPMS vs PPMS).
The Zamboni protocol evaluates the blood flow from the brain back down to the heart but the VHISS is an another important tool that helps determine the specificity level of advanced severity per patient and is used as a baseline to evaluate patients on a follow up basis.
