WIth the help of our non profit partner, Apex Living, we have successfully gotten most of the men;s house members certified in first aid/CPR, BBP, OSHA 10, and many other certs related to workplace requirements that make them more marketable for certain kind of jobs. For a small program like ours. this is an achievement to be proud of.
In the past, Apex Max has helped identify bright talents to invest in and make their post recovery dreams come true. I can't think of many sober livings that do that. THat's what separates us from the many other sober livings. We also invest in a high quality living situation instead of going with run of the mill apartments.
Nirvana Connect (www.nirvanaconn.com) which shares the same owner as Apex MAx has hired at one time or the other on a part time or full time basis nearly 10 of their past residents. Nirvana Connect is a fast growing telecom company which rose from the ashes of United Telecom Systems which was an experiment in investing in two of our own past graduates that lost their way post recovery. United Telecom grew into a company that earned 14M over a two year period from 2022-2023. Unfortunately an industry downturn coupled with the greed and lack of adherance to a strict recovery lifestyle led to the downfall of the company. IN a way, the downfall led to a better outcome which was the birth of Nirvana Connect. Just like I got rid of toxic people in my network, our graduates can enhance their success by steering way from similar toxic people in their network
The lesson I wanted to impart was not to give up after a catastrophic mistake. Assess what went wrong. Accept the fact that not every addict is a victim. If an addict doesn't want to change their ways , move on and help someone else. We are getting smarter at spending our resoiurces to help folks because the idea is not just barely making it . That's just the first step.
Nirvana Connect's mission is not only to be a company that delivers a top notch service, but it is also to provide second chances to folks with potential regardless of their background. In the process, nothing will be handed out. YOu have to earn your way and pay your dues before you take advantage of the rewards you get.
We teach our residents that they need to curb impulsive decisions. You see a lot of residents that waste a lot of money because they are unwilling to change how they spend their money. While it is not exclusive to addicts, addicts can ill afford to waste resources because of how many bridges they have burned in the past.
