The sudden frigid temperatures have shocked everyone, especially our clients who are experiencing homelessness. We are collecting warm winter clothing items for those in need, new and gently used. There is an Amazon wish list link in our bio which makes a compassionate contribution very easy. Drop off locations at Mercy Care Decatur St (at Jackson St doors) and the double side doors at Mercy Care Chamblee. Thank you for giving the gift of warmth this winter!

On Monday, we were so proud to have one of Mercy Care’s own Johnny Smith, substance abuse case manager, take the stage at Healthbeat's inaugural public health storytelling event. Healthbeat invited the quiet heroes of public health to come speak about their ‘Aha’ moments that describe the instant these professionals understood their work’s true impact. Johnny spoke about the importance of second chances and the unwavering commitment to keep showing up, even when the outcome is uncertain. Johnny’s story is a reminder of the heartbreak and hope that define this work—and of the deep compassion it takes to keep showing up. These stories and more will be available online via . Together with our partners , we were honored to receive the 2025 ARC Regional Excellence Award for Innovative Development last Friday. This award recognizes projects that are cutting edge, enhance the community, and support the goals of the Atlanta Region’s plan. We believe that housing is healthcare and this development shows that it is possible to create compassionate, integrated solutions that benefit the entire community. Housing + healthcare = stability and dignity.

We would like to thank all of our partners who helped make our annual fall festival a successful event by giving 66 massages by , 33 caricatures by , 48 showers from , 100 haircuts from , as well as
48 flu vaccines from , 97 blood pressure screenings, 200 health education engagements, 22 mammogram referrals, 22 breast exams, 21 Pap smears. We believe that a healthier community is better for everyone.

Mercy Care held our annual Fall Festival last Saturday where we hosted over 450 clients! They were given hygiene kits and had the opportunity to get haircuts, showers, manicures, massages, clothes, and food, in addition to healthcare services including breast exams and Pap smears. It was indeed a September to remember! We hope you’ll flip through our photos to see some of the wonderful visitors and events we hosted, which included our annual golf fundraiser. We celebrated Mercy Week by giving Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock the Mercy Moves Through Me Luncheon and inducted 13 new members into our Mercy Legacy Society.

We had a small but mighty crew representing Mercy Care at the this Saturday at Piedmont Park! Mercy Care was among the first health care providers to provide services to those with HIV and AIDS back in the early 1990s. We are still linking our clients to care and keeping more and more patients healthy and in care through outreach and education. We are Mercy in Motion!

We were honored to present the Mercy Moves Through Me Award to Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock on Monday who has fought tirelessly for civil rights issues, affordable healthcare, and ending poverty during his career as a minister and politician. Upon accepting the award Senator Reverend Warnock said, “Today, I accept this award not as a celebration of what I have done, but as a commitment to the moral work that lies ahead: to do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.” May we all find a way for mercy to move through each of us!

We were proud to welcome Administrator Tom Engels of Health Resources and Services Administration to tour the Decatur Street clinic on Wednesday. We took the opportunity to gather other leaders in public health—Dr. Kathleen Toomey, Commissioner of the GA Department of Health and Jill Mays, Division Director for Crisis System Transformation among others to discuss how Mercy Care’s unique model of care is bringing healthcare to the unhomed and uninsured with respect and dignity.
