At BBOP, we work every day to improve the lives of families impacted by CP. On , we especially celebrate the families we serve!

Today, October 6, is World Cerebral Palsy Day! 🌎

is about recognition, inclusion, and action for the 50 million people worldwide that live with cerebral palsy. It’s a day to celebrate the achievements of the CP community, challenge barriers, and push for a more accessible, inclusive world.

Cerebral palsy is the most common lifelong physical disability, affecting a person's ability to walk, move, or communicate. It is caused by an injury to the developing brain, but every individual’s experience with cerebral palsy is unique. Every story is different, but our community stands together — .

Share your story and tag us is your posts/stories so we can show how diverse and expansive our community really is!

This past weekend, we were honored to learn alongside leading researchers, clinicians, and advocates, all dedicated to advancing early detection & intervention for cerebral palsy. Our lab members also had the chance to share their research and passions for improving treatment strategies for children. Huge thanks to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation and Dr. Nathalie Maitre for putting together such an inspiring event!

Our postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Caitlin Kjeldsen, recently traveled to Nancy, France where she was invited to represent the BBOP Lab at the Journée d’Actualités en Lorraine en Néonatologie (JALON) Congress. She shared the exciting work we are doing with caregiver’s voice to support the neurodevelopment of infants in Neonatal Intensive Care. Congrats to Dr. Kjeldsen on a successful presentation! Always exciting to take our work abroad!
