Women often put their own health on hold while caring for others. At the Atlanta VA Health Care System, we want our women Veterans to have direct access to the care they need — without unnecessary steps.

Our self-referral option allows women Veterans to schedule gynecological consultations on their own. No provider referral required. It’s about access, agency, and making sure you can be seen when something doesn’t feel right.

Whether you have questions about screenings, irregular cycles, pelvic pain, menopause, or any other concern, you know your body better than anyone. Our Women’s Health team is here with respectful, compassionate, evidence-based care.

Taking charge of your health is one of the strongest acts of self-care — and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

The holiday season means an increase in online shopping and purchases. Cyber Monday and year end gift giving often bring about opportunities for scammers to use distractions to target Veterans and their loved ones.

Bad actors often create fake retail websites, pop-up online stores, or pose as sellers offering discounted merchandise. Victims may make purchases and will either receive counterfeit and low-quality items, or the products will never arrive. Scammers may also steal credit card information that was entered for the purchase.

Through VA Telehealth, Veterans can connect with specialists through Epilepsy Centers of Excellence, bringing care closer to home. The Atlanta VA Health Care System recently held a Lung Cancer Screening Awareness Event at the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center. The event, sponsored by Atlanta VA Pulmonary Lung Cancer Screening Program and the Veterans Canteen Service, commemorated November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Lung Cancer is the deadliest cancer among Veterans but catching it early means a much higher rate of treatment success. During the event, program coordinators provided educational sessions to over 150 Veterans and staff members regarding lung cancer screening and smoking cessation.
