I’ve been on a roll lately, but lady’s holiday through the weekend slowed me down and I didn’t want to practice this morning. Somehow I motivated myself with my writing and got to work. 😂 I had to follow my own advice and I’m happy I did!

“It’s not about the body, it’s about the mind. First off, can you be brave or devoted enough to show up for practice? Once you start, can you be motivated or compassionate (or resilient) enough to work through the sequence even if it feels challenging? Can you be focused or discerning enough to feel what happening in each asana and each breath? Can you be humble enough to take instruction and to modify as needed? The practice is to soften and fortify the mind. See the value in the internal practice and you’ll never want to stop.” 💟 MM

Can you read my chicken scratch?!? My thoughts this morning after my 1/2 Intermediate practice with fellow practitioners. As my dear friend says, “sometimes it just be like that.” Makes me giggle every time she says it.

I started these white board writings about a year ago. I wanted a way to share my thoughts with my students in small digestible ways. On Monday, I wipe the board clean and then just put down whatever is in my head without overthinking it too much. I have the tendency to second guess myself so each week, I practice letting myself write out my thoughts, be vulnerable and share in hopes that it might help someone else. Sometimes it’s hard to share the deeper aspects of yoga during an asana class so this gives me the opportunity to put things in perspective. Thanks for reading them! 🙏💟

The last ones left today. The Mysore room is so special. Everyone working together but with their individual practices. The student gets guidance from the teacher but they are responsible to keep their own pace, focus, and right state of mind. There is nothing like it and the feeling at the end is divine. Make a plan to get your practices in this week! Make the effort, it’s always worth it!

I have so many thoughts about what’s happening in the global Ashtanga community that I don’t even know where to begin. One thing I know is that I have really struggled finding my usual enthusiasm for a strong practice but I’m slowly, but surely, working my way back. Anyone else feeling a shift?
