NEW BLOG -- How Lupus Can Impact Your Skin and How to Get Relief

Lupus is a complex autoimmune disease that can affect many systems in the body, but for many patients, the most visible and distressing symptoms appear on the skin. Because lupus triggers the immune system to attack healthy tissue, it often causes inflammation, rashes, photosensitivity, sores, and a...

Outdoor training was always part of Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders' active lifestyle. Using sunscreen religiously wasn’t a top priority, though, until she was diagnosed with melanoma. That spurred her to a new goal: to help others avoid skin cancer.

Have you been treating your itchy eyelids like for weeks and nothing's working? It might be eye eczema instead 👀
on eyelids looks a lot like seasonal allergies — red, itchy, flaky. But the skin is super thin, which means it reacts differently and needs gentler treatment than allergy drops or your usual eczema routine.

Since eyelid skin is thin, sensitive and close to the eyes, eczema symptoms may not only be magnified, but also more challenging to treat. Discover what’s behind your eyelid eczema and learn how to treat it.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Keep the day fun and romantic by staying on top of the following triggers.

Going out? Be aware of changes in temperature and dress accordingly. Indoors, ask to be seated away from vents and other sources of heat and cold.

Sharing a romantic dinner? Be aware of dishes and ingredients that cause flare-ups. Extra hot food—whether through temperature or spices—are typical triggers. When ordering, don’t be shy. Ask the server what’s in the dish and mention the ingredients you’re avoiding. Many restaurants offer substitutes.

Toasting each other with wine? White wine is just as romantic as red, which is a notorious trigger, but watch alcohol intake in general.

Makeup can cover signs of rosacea, but ensure it doesn’t contain irritants that exacerbate your symptoms.

Don’t stress out! Valentine’s Day carries its own emotional triggers. Try to relax and enjoy yourself and the one you’re with!

Look, we love romance, but some classic Valentine's gifts and traditions are basically flare triggers wrapped in pretty packaging.

The good news? We asked dermatologists which ones are okay for eczema skin (and which ones to politely decline.)

Are Cold Sores Contagious?
Yes — HSV-1 spreads easily, especially during an active outbreak. The virus is most contagious when blisters are visible but can still spread when the skin appears normal. Avoid sharing drinks, lip balm, razors, or engaging in direct skin contact during outbreaks.
