? that's who! From age 1-8, this queen can walk you through helping your children get ready to read (prek) and also read and write . She can also help you with tips on how to transition into homeschooling in and can make affordable activity packets for you to always have on hand for your child(ren). There is a national literacy crisis going on, among school aged black and latino children (public school), low literacy rates are as high as 80%. In some cities, up to 90% of the student population cannot read proficiently past 4th grade. The "WHYs" and "HOW COULD THESE BEs" at this point do not matter. What matters is that we all get on board and equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge they need to do something about it.

On March 5th in , I will be hosting an in-person from 12-5pm EST. This class is designed to teach parents what they need to initiate or support a literacy intervention for their struggling reader (K-3rd). On March 12th, the same class will be hosted in a web-based format from 1-6 pm EST.
Class will cover the following: > The fundamentals of phonics and practice each of the sounds (phonographs) in the English language, how to manipulate them, and how to use that information to breakdown unknown words. > Strategies on how to develop a child's ear (phonemic awareness) >Strategies on how to develop a child's vocabulary
>Strategies on how to develop a child's fluency and reading comprehension (with emphasis on using context and inferences) >Strategies on how to increase independent writing and reading
All parents will receive supplemental printed materials to follow along in class and take home. Should time allow, we will go over some paragraph writing techniques.
This class is for parents not children. We are teaching YOU how to implement techniques.
I realize four hours is a lot of time but, given the amount of material we need to cover it is the shortest class I can put together. I am offering both an local and web-based class so be sure to spread the word.

The Infant Edition:
Proper EMOTIONAL and PHYSICAL development during infancy is the GATEWAY to early literacy in toddlers and preschoolers. Daily loving interactions with your baby can turn into powerful groundwork for academics. In this video, baby's eyes and ears are being strengthened as are language and emotional bonding. You don't need fancy gadgets to build a strong brain, just your intention and love.

If you are lucky enough to have a child that just gets in the bed and goes to sleep, bless your dearheart! The rest of us need tools. Here are my top daily tools: 1. Amethyst crystals bedside 2. Self Hypnosis and relaxation tracks (free in youtube if you want to set your laptop on floor - cover so light doesnt bother OR upload tracks to an inexpensive mp3 player with JUST those types of tracks and set by bed), 3. Lavender oil diffuser 4. Valerian super calm for kid drops.

I uses these weekly if not daily for stretches and have for years. Additional resources might include a few yoga poses and deep breathing.
Hope this helps. It certainly beats fighting!

Earlier this year I posted an offer for free Facetime/Google Hangout for anyone who had a school aged child struggling with reading. Only ONE follower replied, scheduled, and showed up to the appointment. We facetimed and went over a system that works for school aged children. We also talked about diet and herbs to helps with her son's busy body amd behavior. LOOK AT WHAT I got in my DMs today!!! This is what keeps me motivated!

At 7, he still enjoys a good read aloud and so does his mommy! It is always extra fun to read him books I read as a child.
