We join the nation in remembering Rev. Jesse Jackson — a leader whose voice and presence shaped conversations around civil rights, equity, and unity for decades.

This photo captures a meaningful moment in Dr. Carson’s life while serving as President of the African American Society at Dartmouth College — a time when Rev. Jackson’s message of opportunity and bridge-building deeply influenced young leaders across the country.

Rev. Jackson’s commitment to opening doors and elevating voices will not be forgotten. His impact reaches far beyond politics — into communities, institutions, and generations.

We extend our condolences to his family and to all who were shaped by his leadership as our very own Dr. Kevin Carson was.

May his legacy continue to inspire progress and unity.

Recent reporting has raised questions about certain chemicals found in some hair products marketed to Black women.

While more research is needed, scientists continue to study how environmental exposures may influence hormone-sensitive conditions — including uterine fibroids.

Fibroids are estrogen-responsive growths, and Black women are disproportionately affected.

This doesn’t mean one product “causes” fibroids.
But it does mean awareness about overall health, hormone balance, and environmental exposures matters.

If you’re experiencing heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, or fibroid-related symptoms, know that minimally invasive treatment options like UFE are available.

If you’ve never heard of a varicocele, you’re not alone.

A varicocele is basically a varicose vein around the testicles. When blood doesn’t drain properly, it can pool in the veins — leading to:

• A dull, aching pain
• A heavy or dragging feeling
• Visible enlarged veins
• Fertility concerns

It’s common. And for some men, it’s completely treatable.

At Georgia Vascular Institute, we offer Varicocele Embolization (VE) — a minimally invasive, outpatient option that treats the vein without surgery.

When it comes to your fibroid care, who you trust matters.

Dr. Kevin Carson isn’t just a physician — he’s someone who believes deeply in listening to patients, educating them, and making sure they feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.

With decades of experience and a long-standing commitment to the Atlanta community, Dr. Carson has dedicated his career to providing thoughtful, minimally invasive options for women suffering from fibroids — without rushing to surgery.

Patients often tell us they feel cared for, informed, and respected here — and that starts with the person leading the team.

Fibroids don’t just impact your cycle — they can affect your energy, work, sleep, travel, and daily routine.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is designed to help shrink fibroids and relieve symptoms without major surgery, allowing many women to return to daily life sooner.

Women often seek UFE because they want:
• Relief without a long recovery
• Fewer disruptions to work and family life
• A uterus-sparing option

Chronic pelvic pain is often dismissed — but for many women, it has a name.

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (PCS) is caused by enlarged or poorly functioning pelvic veins, leading to ongoing pelvic pain, pressure, or heaviness — especially after standing for long periods or around your menstrual cycle.

PCS can exist on its own or alongside uterine fibroids, which is why it’s often overlooked or misdiagnosed.

Understanding the cause is the first step toward relief.

Being told “everything looks normal” doesn’t always mean you’re feeling okay — and that matters.

HPV and uterine fibroids are not the same, but the symptoms that lead women to seek care can overlap. When cervical causes are ruled out, fibroids are often the next thing to evaluate.

At Georgia Fibroid Treatment Center, we focus on finding the source of symptoms and helping women understand their treatment options — including UFE, a minimally invasive, uterus-sparing procedure.
