Floating Heel Squats are a great progression from the Floating Heel Iso we’ve been working on the past couple months. We now add some eccentric stimulus to both our ankles and knees, slowly taking that tissue to length with full control before standing up with both legs. Here we did 3 reps of a 10-second super slow lowering phase.

Be on the lookout for the release of my program, Foundational Mobility for Athletes this Friday! 12 weeks of progressive isometric programming and mobility correctives to improve total body joint function in athletes of all sports!

and demonstrating a great rep of manually loaded hip CARs:

This set up allows the guys to get some resistance through their entire active range of motion of the hip, and gives them an idea of what position the joint needs to get stronger in. If you’d like to learn more about CARs and receive a free daily routine, comment “cars” and I’ll dm you the link to download my free CARs Morning Routine Guide. You’ll learn exactly what they are, how they can benefit you, and will find video demonstrations of each exercise. Go Gators 🐊

Shoulder Mobility with the Gators:

Shoulder swimmers are a great way to improve shoulder joint health and resiliency. Strengthens the rotator cuff by challenging the shoulder at its end range of movement and teaches players to not compensate from the spine. After you’ve gotten a good base using body weight, progress to light weights (the guys are using 2.5lb plates here) and focus on just one arm at a time. Go Gators 🐊

Exploring some Hip CARs from side lying position:

This was apart of our hip station from the last mobility day. Gave them a little break from standing CARs after a taxing week of squats and Gauntlet runs. Still allows them to fully challenge their hip range of motion and find areas of tightness/weakness. Go Gators 🐊

First time for our guys hitting the Hip Flexor Plank:

Ideally looking for a flat back position, with one hip in flexion and the other in extension. Focus should be on driving the bottom knee up into flexion as much as possible like a sprint, while squeezing the top leg into the bench with a fully bent knee. We have some work to do on these form-wise before we inevitably add weight but we’ll keep using them to prep for heavy run or lower body days for the near future. Shoutout to for this set up. Last week’s Change of Direction workout with NFL veteran receiver Brandin Cooks:

Route Decelerations
Line Hops for SPEED (Side & Fwd/Bwd)
Fwd/Lateral Bounds
Resisted Side Shuffle Decelerations
Route Breaks
Isometric Series (not filmed)

Everything done here was with extreme effort and intent on every rep. There wasn’t a drill, route, or even step that was performed without game day performance in mind. Staying consistently locked in and focused on the smallest details is a big reason why he’s in his 12th year in the league.

Little bit of a late announcement but I’m excited to announce I’ve started work with the New Orleans Saints Strength Staff for the duration of training camp as well as the preseason. Extremely grateful to the Saints Organization as well as Tulane University for allowing me to take part in a great opportunity and blessing that I plan on learning a lot from 🙏🏾
