Today our team lead attended the Fifth Annual Symposium: Complex Cases in Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatry. It was an outstanding continuing education program bringing together leaders in youth mental health.
One of the keynote speakers from the University of Oregon, who evaluates treatment programs across the country, shared the practices that consistently lead to the best outcomes for children and adolescents in mental health treatment.
The programs with the strongest outcomes consistently:
• Actively involve parents and families in treatment
• Use evidence-based interventions in their pure form for the majority of clinical sessions
• Demonstrate skills with patients and families, not just talk about them
• Use measurable outcomes, assessing progress regularly (often monthly)
• Provide therapists with meaningful supervision that goes beyond encouragement — offering constructive, growth-oriented feedback
We were proud to reflect on how these recommendations mirror the model we use at Atlanta Specialized Care.
Our clinicians are committed to evidence-based care, measurable outcomes, family involvement, and ongoing clinical supervision so that we can continually improve the care we provide.
Continuing education like this helps ensure we remain aligned with the most effective practices in pediatric and adolescent mental health care.
