CHRIS 180 was founded in Georgia in 1981 as a collaboration between the Junior League of Atlanta and the Menninger Foundation to bridge gaps in foster care services for children who required residential mental health treatment, but who did not need institutionalization/hospitalization. We accomplish our mission by ensuring child and family well-being through mental health treatment and stable living environments; preventing family problems through education, counseling and teaching life skills; and impacting public policies through advocacy. We are one of the Southeast’s premiere mental health, child welfare and family service organizations. We are a leader in Georgia and a founding member of multiple collaborations to help children and families. Today, we save, serve and protect thousands of abused and neglected children while empowering families through positive, solution focused programming which includes: behavioral health, life/social/vocational skill development, group homes, community services, training and housing programs.

Stress in teens does not always show up in obvious ways. Changes in behavior, mood, or routines can be early signs that something feels overwhelming.

Some signs to notice include shifts in sleep or appetite, pulling away from friends or family, changes in school engagement, or frequent irritability. Paying attention early can help teens feel supported before stress builds.

CHRIS 180 provides counseling and support for teens and families across metro Atlanta. Learn more about youth services at chris180.org.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is a reminder that small moments of care can make a meaningful difference. A kind word, a check-in, or a willingness to listen can help someone feel seen and supported.

At CHRIS 180, we see how compassion strengthens families and communities every day. When care is shared, it creates space for healing and connection.

Self-care Sunday is a chance to support your nervous system before the week begins. Small resets can help your body and mind move out of stress and into steadiness.

Today, consider one simple reset. Step outside for a few minutes. Lower the noise in your space. Take a few slow breaths before the day ends. These moments help signal safety and calm.

If you or someone you care about needs additional support, learn more about care options at chris180.org.

National Self-Love Day is a reminder that caring for yourself supports overall mental and emotional well-being. Self-love can look like recognizing when something feels heavy, setting boundaries, or reaching out for support.

When individuals take care of their well-being, families and communities are strengthened as a result. CHRIS 180 provides counseling and support services that help individuals prioritize care in ways that feel respectful and accessible.

In a recent Power Moves feature by the Atlanta Business Chronicle , several new nonprofit CEOs shared how they’re navigating today’s most complex community challenges, from housing affordability and hunger to conservation and mental health.

We’re proud to see our very own Cati Diamond Stone, President & CEO of CHRIS 180, highlighted among this group of leaders. Since stepping into her role in October 2024, Cati has focused on honoring CHRIS 180’s legacy while thoughtfully modernizing how the organization operates, ensuring it remains responsive to families facing real-time economic and social pressures.

Her perspective underscores what makes metro Atlanta special: a deeply collaborative nonprofit community that shows up for young people and families, works across systems and keeps mission at the center of change.

Early mental health support can change long-term outcomes for young people. When children and teens receive care sooner, stress is less likely to grow into ongoing challenges.

Research shows that early intervention helps improve emotional regulation, school engagement, and long-term well-being. Paying attention early and offering support can make a meaningful difference.

CHRIS 180 provides counseling and support for youth across metro Atlanta, helping families access care when it matters most. Learn more at chris180.org.

We were proud to gather in celebration of Kathy Colbenson, the first CEO of CHRIS 180, as she was honored as the Rev. Robert Ross Johnson Humanitarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of Buckhead yesterday.

Kathy’s 38 years of extraordinary leadership laid the foundation for CHRIS 180’s impact across our community and helped to shape the organization into one of Greater Atlanta's premier providers of mental health care, housing, and support services for trauma-involved children and families.

Seeing our team show up in support of Kathy’s well-deserved recognition was a powerful reminder that her legacy lives on, not just in programs and outcomes, but in the people who carry the mission forward every day.

Thank you, Kathy, for building something that continues to heal children, strengthen families, and transform lives. 💙

Self-care Sunday is a reminder that rest supports both mental and emotional well-being. During busy or demanding seasons, consistent routines can help create a greater sense of calm and balance.

As you prepare for the week ahead, consider how rest fits into your routine. A steady bedtime. Fewer late nights. A simple wind-down habit at the end of the day. Small changes can support energy, focus, and overall well-being.

If you or someone you care about could benefit from additional support, learn more about available care at chris180.org.

Earlier this week, CHRIS 180 joined our partners at the Fulton County Behavioral Health Network to collaborate, share best practices, and strengthen coordination of care across the county.

Through this partnership, we are working together to expand access to trauma-informed mental health and addiction treatment for individuals and families throughout Fulton County. Collaboration like this helps ensure people receive the right support at the right time.

To learn more about the network or access the referral form, visit Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities or contact CHRIS 180 at 800-896-4106.

February can feel heavy for many people. Shorter days. Full schedules. Ongoing responsibilities. Grounding yourself does not mean fixing everything. It means finding steadiness where you are.

This month, focus on one thing that helps you feel anchored. A routine you can return to. A moment of quiet. A reminder that support exists beyond today.

CHRIS 180 is here for individuals and families across Atlanta, offering care and connection when it is needed most. Learn more at chris180.org.
