tip 2️⃣ is legit for letting go and clearing paths 🗑️
honestly, as simple as these steps may seem, it’s a great way to rewire your mind into new habits and routines if you’re looking for shifts.

i often observe my own 3 year old and how the small habits and routines he experiences are building the blocks of his reality. we aren’t any different as we age. it’s when we forget this fact that we usually find ourselves in patterns that don’t serve us.

what are some small changes you’ve made that have unlocked and rewired your perspective?

The remedy for burnout? Sometimes simply taking a deep breath, assessing your capacity, and opening your heart to saying NO with all love + respect.

I have experienced burnout before, and I ain’t going back. Here is a simple practice to {re}claim your time— especially as the holidays hit.

This is not a drill 🚨 Vibe & Flow: My Mixtape featuring is coming next month!

Vibe & Flow was created to remind us that everyone belongs on the yoga mat. The intention has always been that of oneness, but most of all an opportunity to give something a try that you may never ever have considered. This is why I invite my friends and colleagues in to practice with me.

We are ending out the year strong with THEE OG JENN SHERMAN ✨✨✨✨

see you on the mat!

Stretches that will prepare your body for yoga 🧘🏽‍♀️

1️⃣ Seated figure four is a great way to open the IT band and hips in an intentional way that makes space for longer holds.
2️⃣ Hamstring stretches with blocks —— great way to gently and responsibly settle into the hamstrings for a full split aka
3️⃣ Arm and shoulder stretches are a must to prepare the upper body (specifically traps) for a longer hold in eagle arms.

Tell me: What yoga postures freak you out or leave you feeling overwhelmed? I’ll show you their stretch cousin!

golden milk is the perfect anti-inflammatory warm drink and treat i turn to, especially as the seasons get colder. i first learned about golden milk through my teacher and the sister science of yoga,

here are some of the incredible benefits:

✨ rich in antioxidants for longevity
✨ aids inflammation and joint health
✨ contributes to cognitive function
✨ supports mood and stress management
✨ aids digestion
✨ contributes to bone health
✨ supports better sleep

yogis are not passive human beings, yogis are grounded and rooted with a power within that has the potential to be stronger than you ever imagined.

i often say, the loudest voice in the room is not always the strongest. in other words, just because your workout or “work in” doesn’t seem loud, doesn’t mean it’s not impactful. When i think about becoming aware of the wisdom that my body holds, I make an agreement with myself that yoga and meditation serves this purpose. i also make the agreement that this is the practice where I will be radically honest with myself— honest about how i feel and what I am experiencing.

moral of the story….yogis are anything but passive.

this is your morning, you get to decide.

your meditation does not have to be super complicated. it can be as simple as finding time to close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and get yourself anchored with a simple mantra.

oh and, repeat after me: i can meditate. i can move if i am uncomfortable. i can open my eyes if i become unsure. i am a mediator. it does not have to be perfect.

start with this one this morning. ☀️

when we decided to move to NYC, it was without hesitation that I knew our home would be in Harlem. the history, the culture, and the ART have been on my radar since i was a little girl.

this is why last night was a pinch me moment. to walk through the halls of last night was surreal. i can’t really articulate the emotion that i felt being surrounded by art that reflects my experiences, my culture, and my roots.

this space is for everyone.
if you are intrigued by American History & Art, this museum is an essential visit — the art speaks volumes.

Congratulations and the entire SM team who have poured into this space in a way that is felt deeply by the community.

public speaking has always been that girl who reminds me to be loving and kind to my nervous system. it doesn’t serve me to be critical or impatient with myself when i get nervous. the truth is, it is impossible to force myself to relax, instead i keep these tools in my back pocket and they usually get me all the way together and grounded.

Critical Inner Literacy is a term I created and defined after my dissertation. I knew that I wanted the term to make sense on the most practical level.

Even though I chose a very unconventional path after earning my PhD, I have always been committed to making sure that my research supports other living beings who want to fine alignment in life and purpose.
