There is still time to register for Thursday's webinar with the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation to learn how we can make research more inclusive!

Many underrepresented communities are often overlooked in research that influences policies affecting their lives. Including them as participants and researchers helps develop better solutions in health, housing, education, and jobs. The Consortium for Helping Improve Research Participation (CHIRP) aims to foster trust, share stories, and strengthen bonds between researchers and communities, promoting inclusion and value.

Let's discover how you can help shape future research efforts and ensure all voices are heard! Visit https://bit.ly/RRTC-Web-0326 to register today. CEUs and CRCs will be offered!

Do you work with older adults who could benefit from assistive technology (AT) to live, learn, work, and thrive?

The AT3 Center, powered by ATAP-Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs, is bringing organizations together to expand access to life-changing AT for aging adults. The 2026 cohort is ideal for Area Agencies on Aging, senior centers, state units on aging, Assistive Technology Act Programs, and other organizations serving older adults across states and territories.

The next webinar will be on Wednesday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. ET. Visit https://at3center.net/aging-peer-action-learning to learn more!

We've come to the final highlight of this year's Black History Month, where we have been focusing on Black innovators and inventors and their impact on the disability community.

In 1887, African American inventor Alexander Miles patented the mechanism for automatic elevator doors, making elevators safer, easier, and more inclusive. Before his invention, people manually operated heavy doors, which was dangerous and difficult for those with disabilities. His work improved safety and accessibility, paving the way for modern elevator design!

Another day, another Black History Month highlight! This February, we are showcasing Black innovators. Today, we are featuring Matthew Whitaker, the phenomenal jazz pianist who’s redefining what it means to navigate the world without sight.

Blind since birth, Matthew doesn’t just use technology; he masters it. He relies on screen readers to read music, especially Apple’s built‑in VoiceOver, to handle everything from music-theory resources to staying connected via his iPhone and Apple Watch.

Whether in the studio, on stage, or behind the screen, Matthew Whitaker shows how assistive technology can empower creativity and open doors for all!

We continue celebrating Black History Month by highlighting innovators and inventors who transformed assistive technology!

Bessie Blount Griffin, a World War II nurse and physiotherapist, revolutionized assistive technology with her hands‑free feeding device designed to help veterans who lost the use of their arms regain independence.

In 1952, she even flew to France to give away her automatic feeding device so it could be used to support disabled veterans worldwide.

Bessie's compassion and innovation paved the way for today’s advanced assistive technologies. She was a true pioneer who changed lives and dedicated herself to empowering people with disabilities!

Innovation isn’t just about invention; it’s about providing access!

This Black History Month, we are celebrating Black innovators shaping and transforming assistive technology and disability.

Today, we want to spotlight Marian Croak, whose work in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) powers platforms like Zoom, Teams, and FaceTime, along with accessibility features, such as speech-to-text, real-time text, and sign language communication. Her innovations help make remote communication more inclusive and accessible for everyone!
