My museum houses many more things than this list which leads to my 2026 intentions:

1. Keep being myself because I really like her the more I allow myself to actually just be…her.
2. Stick to #1 for the rest of my life. 💫

Softness starts. Slower mornings. Smoother days.

Thank you for including my voice in this very important practice that many of us DON'T have (for various reasons). Rushing, feeling wound up and distracted, hectic, phone first days are quite frankly ruining our brains and bodies slowly as chronic practices.

In this article, I include several strategies and reasons to start your days differently: do you already practice some of these?

Any habits you'd like to incorporate?

we’re overrun with highlights on social media so here are some “lowlights” - (i’m only using that language to compare, not because i feel very emotionally attached to post response) - which leads to the lesson:

your message isn’t any less important because it doesn’t reach every corner, because it may go un/less noticed, because it isn’t highly externally validated. your message can be important to you, the handful who receive it that you are aware of, and many the eyes and ears you’ll never know came across your presence.

when i speak directly to the Black girlies, y’all really get me!

thinking (not overthinking) some ideas for the next few months of mental health + relationship information/education for you all—what do you want to learn about from a psychologist?

January brings up a lot for people. Opportunity, choice, pressure, focus, change, re…everything. Which is why nothing ends up changing in the long term or transforming for many of this.

I usually don’t like using the word “just,” as it can be minimizing and simplifying of things and circumstances, but I’d like to invite you to a few ways to use it to your benefit.

Just be.
Just breathe.
Just sit.
Just pause.
Just rest.

January can begin in a way that brings justice back to your body by giving it back its right to receive peace. If you choose, choose you.

I'm seeing all the swarm of “end of the year” and “2026 goals/intentions posts and a lot of them have some version of “letting go” language tied to feelings, thoughts, habits, relationships, etc. Which is why my recent feature is right on time!

More of us are becoming familiar with the language of resent and how it shows up emotionally and underlies some of our relationship behaviors-but many of us still don't realize how much we are impacted by resentment and how corrosive it is to ANY relationship when it continues to go unrepaired.

Not uncommon to other emotions, resentment absolutely will not just “go away” and isn't easy to “let go of” on the day you choose, without understanding and doing some definite internal and ideally external repair. In this article, I offer several ways to address resentment and move towards some growth and healing.

In this clip, Kate & I talk about a multitude of options to address intense anxiety in the moment - have you tried any of these to help with sensory overstimulation?

Cold: ice, cold water, freezer
Soft: blanket, plush toy, pillow, fleece or teddy sweater material

Rigid: massage stick with grooves, hard plastic fidget spinner toy, safe toy with point/soft spikes

Grounding: deep breaths, counting up or down, noticing what's near/around you and making a mental list for a few minutes

What tips can you share that help you in moments like this?

12/20/2025

Important note that you might not see often on social media: therapeutic interventions aren't created for all mental health issues and aren't appropriate for every client. Not everyone's anxiety shows up the same, and you may experience anxiety at different intensity, frequency or duration than anyone around you.

While sour candy won't eliminate anxiety, it can help you to move through some difficult moments by distracting you from unpleasant thoughts and disrupting ruminations momentarily.

Put your questions in the comments so we can chat more!

I did another thing a little while ago 💫

Thankful to NBC for this feature on anxiety management !

Did you know that you can create sensory experiences to help reduce the intensity of some (even many) emotions? Here's the first part of my interview on the topic.

Late post + early enthusiasm - I’m already thinking about next summit because it was just THAT good, y’all!

As many of us are winding down and some of us are already looking to 2026—think community, connection, collaboration & care that you need as a Black woman mental health professional.

Think culture, courage and curiosity as you're planning your conferences next year.

Thinking Sisterhood.

If you attended this past year or even last year's summit, what stayed with you and what's bringing you back next year?
