Maha Taylor, the founder of Psychosomatic Recovery, describes what they do as a combination of emotional coaching and trauma-informed bodywork that is nervous-system led rather than muscle-led. Psychologically, coping mechanisms and limiting belief patterns can be held within the fascia (connective tissue) and the nervous system, Taylor says.

“I help rehabilitate the nervous system’s response,” says Taylor, who is one of the few psychosomatic bodywork practitioners in Atlanta. “We are trying to reeducate and care for the nervous system so that it can respond differently to the stress in our lives.”

Taylor told me it’s like couples counseling for the mind and body, with the ultimate goal of a reset. “We are trying to create new neural pathways within the brain and tone the vagus nerve so that you can address things with more confidence and security,” they say.

Support Maha’s Top Surgery – Surgery Date: April 10th

Reaching out for community support 🤍

For over 15 years, Maha has shown up for our community through mental health education, emotional self-care, and psychosomatic massage. They hold deep, validating space for q***r and neurodivergent folks, offering care that is grounded, affirming, and genuinely heart-centered. Many of us have felt that support firsthand.

Now, we have an opportunity to show up for Maha.

As an act of body-affirming care, Maha is moving forward with top surgery (bilateral mastectomy). This is a meaningful and affirming step in becoming more fully themselves. While this surgery is deeply important, it also comes with real financial and practical challenges—especially during recovery.

Your contribution will help cover medical costs and basic living expenses while Maha rests and heals. More than that, your support offers something just as powerful: relief from stress, a sense of being held by community, and the reminder that they don’t have to do this alone. In the same way Maha has shown up for so many of us, we now get to reflect that care back to them.

My Summer at BRAVE TRAILS 🌈 a Q***r Youth Summer Camps 1st year in GEORGIA !!
* We had an amazing support system of 30 staff ( admin, Med, Inclusion 'therapists' , Counselor Support team, Directors, more)

I went to a Christian, all girls camp every summer as a child and I LOVED IT !! I always wanted to go back as a Counselor but our values no longer aligned. BRAVE TRAILS is the Community my Younger self always needed !!

Do you feel like you're holding unprocessed emotions in your body?
Overthinking your feelings or feeling numb and disconnected?

This 6-week somatic journey helps you reconnect with your emotional body, explore where emotions are held physically, and learn how to meet those needs with compassion.

You’ll be guided through:
✨ Reframing your relationship with the 7 core emotions
✨ Movement + somatic practices to support emotional expression
✨ Inner dialogue, self-touch, and parts work (IFS)
✨ A daily 10-minute somatic check-in for nervous system support

Each participant receives a 1:1 private somatic coaching session with Maha during the course.

Rooted in somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, EMDR, and trauma-informed yoga – this course is both a healing path and part of the Psychosomatic Recovery Certification (open to all for Level 1, practitioners continue to Level 2).

Partner Thai Bodywork
Bring your friend, partner or meet someone new in your community to practice this slow simple co-regulation bodywork practice.

Thai Yoga Bodywork is practiced on the floor fully clothed with slow rocking movements and large surface area compression so it's very soothing for the nervous system .

Each of you will take turns being guided through a gentle full body thai yoga session.

Partners will be guided to communicate and check-in often.

Your instructor Maha Taylor has 16 years of experience as a Psychosomatic massage therapist, trauma informed yoga instructor and workshop leader .
