After quite some time of refusing to try reading or writing at home, he suddenly had an explosion of interest in both! He has become interested in reading some simple early readers we ordered and is now reading short books with phonetic sentences!

His writing has similarly taken off. Thanks to his teacher's insistence that he practice writing every day, he has learned to write all of his cursive letters (although a few are still a little shaky) and has started wanting to do writing at home, too. Dr. Serrano was great. I had been dissatisfied with an explanation of my visual problems from my now-former eye doctor. The amount of time he spend with me, getting to the bottom of what was going on, was incredible. Really surprising and good. He did a lot of testing that went well beyond the standard "read this line, is this sharper or is this sharper". I feel as if he truly understood me as a person, and listened to me--he didn't treat me as just another patient in and out the door thank you. The staff was great, it was easy to make an appointment and I like that I could fill out all the paperwork online before the appointment. For the first time since 1988, when I had an RK, I am going to get glasses and, instead of saying "oh, getting older ", I feel really excited about having crisp clear vision once again. I could not recommend Dr. Serrano more highly.
