Frazer Center

Frazer Center Fostering inclusive communities where people with and without disabilities gather, learn, & flourish.

Annually we serve over 250 children - one-third of whom have a developmental disability - between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years in our inclusive Child Development Program. We are one of only a few inclusive early education programs in metro-Atlanta and are unique in supporting both children and adults with disabilities in reaching their full potential.

For April and Autism Acceptance Month, our Inclusion Team is sharing a new focused on children’s books about autism.

In this episode, Ignacio Mendoza and Hannah Etchison introduce two titles that can help families start thoughtful, age-appropriate conversations:

📚 “A Friend Like Simon” by Kate Gaynor, illustrated by Caitrìona Sweeney
📚 “A Day with No Words” by Tiffany Hammond, illustrated by Kate Cosgrove

Each story offers a different perspective on communication and connection, giving children a way to better understand their peers.

At Frazer Center, this kind of learning is part of everyday life. Children grow up in classrooms where differences are part of the experience—not something set apart.

We hope these recommendations help build your inclusive home library.

How do you explain disabilities to a child?

— Children’s Books We Love and Recommend

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. In this episode of , our Inclusion Team shares two stories that help young readers understand different abilities in a real, approachable way.

“The Abilities in Me: Cerebral Palsy” and “Meeting Mimi” open the door to conversations about how people move through the world—and how much we all have in common.

At Frazer, inclusion starts early. It grows through moments like this: reading together, asking questions, and learning how to see each other more clearly.

Two guitars, a story, and a trip to the moon 🌙🎶

One of our Pre-K classes had a very special visit from grandparents who brought music, storytelling, and so much joy into the classroom. From singing along with Opa to a sweet guitar duet with his granddaughter—and a moon-landing story from Noni—this is a moment our students will remember.

We’re so grateful for the love our community brings into the classroom. Thank you, Opa & Noni! 💙💚💙

Gather. Learn. Flourish.

At the Frazer Center, inclusion is key. Our Child Development Program provides early education for children with and without disabilities, and our Adult Program provides pre-vocational services and supported employment for adults with developmental disabilities.

We are nestled in a 39-acre old-growth forest that includes the historic Cator Woolford estate. The beautiful Cator Woolford Gardens is our social enterprise and provides a charming location for weddings, events, and film shoots.
