Philippians 4:6-7 is what helped me with emotional regulation.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I would do this, and then do the 54321 method - name five things you see, four things you feel, three things you hear, two things you smell, and one thing you taste. This helps bring your attention to the present moment and can ease overwhelming emotions. For those who don’t know, this falls under the line of what Spell Work is. How? So I have been revisiting some terms since being in therapy that I wanted to share with you all - Limerence and Saudade.

Limerence is an intense, involuntary infatuation or obsession with someone, often characterized by intrusive thoughts and fantasies about that person. It involves a heightened emotional state, longing for reciprocation, and can sometimes lead to idealization of the object of affection.

"Saudade" is a Portuguese term that sums up a deep emotional state of longing or nostalgia, often accompanied by a sense of incompleteness and melancholy. It's a bittersweet yearning for an absent presence or a feeling of emptiness for something that once brought joy or fulfillment. Kinda like FOMO, but a bit more intense.

Now initially, I thought that both Saudade and Limerence may have been about the same, but not quite. They share some similarities in their emotional intensity and longing aspects, but they differ in their focus and context. Saudade is more about a general feeling of longing, while limerence is centered around an individual or romantic interest.

So, the more you know. Don’t get caught up in the feelings of both of those terms, dig deep and know where that longing comes from.
