It’s not just volume loss!
As we age, facial changes are often misunderstood as simply “losing volume.” In reality, much of what we see is volume redistribution—fat pads descend from their youthful position. This creates heaviness in the lower face, flattening through the midface, and deepening folds. Adding volume alone without correcting this descent can lead to an artificial appearance.

A deep plane facelift addresses the root cause. By releasing and vertically repositioning the deeper facial structures (mobile SMAS), Dr. Stong restores tissue back to its original position—lifting the midface, refining the jawline, and reestablishing youthful proportions. The goal isn’t to “add” volume, but to restore balance—bringing the face back to its natural ratios.

At Kalos, this is refined through the KalosLift—Dr. Stong’s advanced mini extended deep plane facelift. With an emphasis on vertical lift (often 75–85%), periosteal fixation, and comprehensive neck contouring, the technique is designed for both natural aesthetics and long-term structural support.

Kalos is recognized as the Center of Excellence for Deep Plane Facelifting, with an exclusive focus on advanced facial plastic surgery.

The result is subtle yet dramatic—natural definition, balanced contours, and a refreshed appearance that still looks like you.

Most upper blephs miss this.

During this case, Dr. Stong starts with an upper blepharoplasty and focuses on a detail that makes a major difference in the final result — how the incision is extended laterally.

Many surgeons use a semi-circular incision. While that can address central eyelid skin, it often leaves residual hooding at the outer corner of the eye.

Dr. Stong extends the incision laterally to fully address that excess skin. This allows for a smoother contour across the entire upper eyelid, especially in the lateral third where aging is most visible. The result is a cleaner rejuvenation — without that lingering heaviness on the outer eye.

Not everyone is a candidate for hairline lowering!
If you do not have androgenetic alopecia and simply have a naturally higher hairline or larger forehead, hairline lowering can create a more balanced, proportionate look. If you do have androgenetic alopecia, this procedure is not recommended—because as hair loss progresses, the results become less effective and the scar can become more visible.

A revision done right ✨
At 39, this patient came to Dr. Stong after being unhappy with her previous rhinoplasty. Nearly 2 years post-op, her result is beautifully refined and built to last. Using advanced rhinoplasty techniques focused on strong, long term tip support, Dr. Stong was able to restore structure while creating a natural shape that complements her features. Notice how the nose no longer distracts—bringing more attention to her eyes and lips and creating overall facial harmony.

Two months post and already stunning!

At 53, she’s just 2 months out from her KalosLift deep plane facelift, and her results are already looking beautifully lifted and natural. This technique enhances the midface with a vertical lift, refines the jawline, and creates a smooth, contoured neck. It also improves the lower eyelids, helping restore a more refreshed appearance.
Because everything is anchored for long-term support, her results will continue to improve as she heals.

Not all Botox is injected the same!
Dr. Stong uses highly concentrated Botox to achieve precise placement in the facial muscles. Less dilution reduces the risk of migration and helps create balanced, natural looking results.

Sculptra granulomas discovered during deep plane facelift surgery.

Some biostimulatory fillers can create granulomatous tissue within the facial planes. During this case, Dr. Stong encountered Sculptra-related granulomas along the mobile SMAS that required careful dissection before proceeding with the facelift.

Why FUE Hair Transplants Are the Gold Standard.

Dr. Stong explains why Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) has become the preferred technique for modern hair restoration. Instead of removing a strip of scalp like traditional FUT, FUE uses a tiny punch biopsy to individually extract follicular units from the donor area. This means no linear scar, no sutures or staples, and minimal recovery time.

One of the biggest advantages is downtime. FUT procedures can require more than a month of recovery due to the strip incision, while FUE patients are typically back to normal activity in about two weeks.

FUE also offers excellent graft survival. At Kalos, follicles are carefully preserved in HypoThermosol and ATP, which support cellular energy and help maintain graft viability before implantation. This allows survival rates of 95–98%, compared to around 75% with FUT.

The result is a technique that prioritizes natural results, minimal scarring, faster recovery, and high graft survival—which is why FUE is widely considered the gold standard in hair transplantation.

Prominent ears are often caused by an underdeveloped antihelical fold.
When this natural fold of cartilage doesn’t form properly, the ear can project outward—commonly called a lop ear or prominent ear deformity. Otoplasty reshapes the cartilage to recreate the antihelical fold and bring the ears into better balance with the face.

Subtle change. Big difference.
This 28 year old patient is 3 months post alar base reduction with Dr. Stong. A small section of tissue is removed at the base of each nostril to refine the nostril shape—from curved to straighter—creating a more balanced, narrower appearance while keeping the result natural.
